The Kenda K270 tires work very poorly in mud, Stew. I suggest you try the Kenda, K760 rear tire I have mounted on my Zong; this tire does a superb job in mud, and all off road terrain.

What size are your 760's Spud? My tire size is 4.10-18, I'm just wondering how that translates into normal sizing? I think the 270 would fare alright on hardpack but they are definitely not fond of mud!

The K760, size 100/100-18 would be equivalent to a size 4.10-18, rear tire, Stew. These tires are inexpensive, but they perform very well, and wear a long time on a 200cc motorcycle. Since my Zong has a big "rear end," I am employing a larger, size 110/100-18, rear tire, which is equivalent to a size 4.60-18, rear tire.

Here's a link to the Kenda website describing the K760 tires.

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC has the best prices on the Kenda, K760 tires.

Thanks Spud, I wasn't sure what the metric sizing was on my tire . The Trakmaster looks awesome as always, I've been wanting to try one since I read your original review on them . I'll have to send an email to Rocky Mountain again, I'm not positive but if I remember correctly they wont ship tires to Canada. It's actually a real pain in the butt to get tires shipped into Canada, our postal rates are very high on oversize parcels :(

Edit: Just checked Rocky Mountains website, no dice on international shipping. Bummer!

Edit 2: Found them in Canada! A Vicious Cycle in Ontario sells them. Tire is $57 counting levy, shipping is $24 and tax is anther couple of bucks... Total of $85 to my door. I think I'll scoop one, but I'm going to use up the 270 a bit first

If you're not concerned about the DOT rating, I suggest you try my current favorite tire, the Dunlop D952. This tire has the same, aggressive tread pattern as the Kenda K760. However, the D952 is manufactured from a harder rubber compound which wears better, and resists chunking tread knobs. Perhaps you can get a better deal on the Dunlop D952, Stew. I recommend size 110/90-18 for the D952 rear tire.

I also found the K760 rear tires at A Vicious Cycle.

Perhaps you can get the K760 tire shipped to Redline Motorsports in Calgary, Stew.

You can always sand off the script that reads "off road only".

Lol, that would work! Though the only thing I've every had checked on my bikes by the police was my exhaust... They like to cock one eyebrow and say "Is that the factory muffler?"

Lol!! First time I've ever hit the language filter here!! I guess I should have said they like to raise one eyebrow...

I've hit the language filter for using the proper terminology for fuel valve.

I saw Russell Mitchell from Exile Choppers do that on a trike he built. He was using Indy-spec tires, and he wanted to ride it on the street.

Do you really get cops in Alberta asking about your muffler?

Yup, I've been asked twice in random checkstops on my Shadow... Funny part is, I think the Shadow was one of the quietest bikes I've ever owned, why would they even ask? Unless they were just trying to make conversation for making the poor biker drag out his insurance and registration papers . One guy even checked to see the factory stamp on it though! This was way before the bike noise legislation came out as well.

I know why.

Alberta must be so crime free the police have nothing else to do but irritate motorcyclists?

I got stopped by the city police last night because of an extinguished headlamp! Idaho is notorious for stopping motorists for this reason. Needless to say, I presented my "papers," then continued on my way to the grocery store, without further incident.

Noise legislation? Since when? Things have really changed since I left Alberta.
