When going up into the far reaches of New England, you never know what will be down across the dirt roads, or what route arounds you'll need to do to get around washout out roads etc. Been there several times and make it my mission not to let those things deter me!
Need to get through stuff like this: And this. I hopped over this one before my friend Jack was kind enough to push it out of the way for future travelers but if I was alone (after two back surgeries) my only choice would be to go over it.

Not doubting your skills or ability, DC.
Only thinking that your XT would be a more appropriate bike for those conditions. If it were me going up that road, I would be on my TW200, not the RX3. jb

Thanks JB - but you touch on something I am now concerned about - will this bike comfortably be able to handle stuff like this as this is what I am buying it for?
I've got 30K miles on the XT now and it is getting tired so I am going to stop touring with it due to the fear of getting stranded in 'the sticks' with mechanical issues. I love this bike so very much as it has faithfully seen me through some incredible multi-day adventures in the last 7 years but now I am hoping for the RX3 to take its place in that regard.

Suspension travel is a concern... and for me, power, offroad. I'm not sure the RX3 is going to be the best choice for you but I'm not looking for an offroad bike.
I could ride a sport bike through the trails you just posted so if that's the extent I wouldn't be concerned. Best option? No, doable, yes.

I've traveled far worse on the XT but those pics would fairly represent about the max I would expect to take the RX3 while leading a group tour through.

I can't give an honest opinion as I don't have mine yet but I would think it will do just fine. Did you order yours with the knobby tire upgrade?

I am hoping to fit something like a pair of Heidenau K60s on it once the OEMs wear down as the knobbies would jack up the seat height too much : (.

Thanks Sir Spud - I guess I will just have to be selective where/when I take it and make sure no potential hazards abound. XT Momo will be happy to hear that as I'm sure he's not liking the idea of being put out to pasture when it comes to touring.

You're welcome. Keeping the XT250 is an excellent idea. I'm sure the Zongshen RX3 will complement your Yamaha very well, and the two bikes will allow you to choose the best motorcycle for a wide variety of riding conditions.

Great pics which also display the RX3 in the environment it is comfortable in. Yes, I will indeed keep the XT. The RX3 will fit in nicely between it and my F650gs.
