I fear I'm a bit off-topic, but I agree with Red. Most of us who've been here a while tend to be older, but with the growing popularity of the site, a few bad apples have been turning up. Growing pains are just that, pains. I know of another site (TT) which has the same issue with the young-uns. I do believe new members do tend to follow the cues of the more senior members. For this reason I tend to read/reread my posts before submiting.

I'm not decrying anyones posting habits, just stating what I believe is happening. Many use a furum to communicate in away they would never use when their identity is known. I on the other hand tend to be more guarded/restrained on a furum then when I'm out. Makes no sense I know, but that's just me.

Let's get back on track, hope the new guy didn't get spooked away. The bike for the price i think is good buy.Just make sure it can be registured. The bike is no different from any other china bike, problem is The Wildfire company. You can maintain and service the bike with no problem considering your background. If it can be registured i say get it.

Dropshipping is not all bad if you don't need any help with service after the sale is pretty all Bruce is saying.

Those two companies are not known for customer service.

B&M dealers have a place. Good for buyers who don't want to turn the wrench themselves.

How can you be positive any bike can be registured? :P

They might ship a different bike?
The b&m store could go under the day after you buy.
That used bike might have a crash brand on it.

The more you know going into the purchase helps, but you NEVER know.
When you buy your first bike, chances are you don't know much about bikes. Even if you do wrench, if you can't get parts, you're out of luck, ask SamM. Add the problems of getting a bike and mucking around for a month to get it registered, when you're wife's in tears. Then if you do have to get it serviced at a bike shop, the mechanic might or might not want to work on it. The lack of cc's and horse power. How can anyone look at the link to some website and say, "yep that's worth it?"

The reason I got my bike? If I needed a part for my chinabike, I could get in the car drive 25 minutes, and Daymak would rip that part quick from another bike. Home in an hour. If I had to search, and wait for shipping for a part, I would have walked away.

If you do go ahead and purchase a chinabike. You could always try what I did. I wrote on the bill of sale, "If this bike can't be plated for what ever reason, this sale is void." And had the vendor sign it. Might give you a leg to stand on if things go sour. Maybe not. My only advice to any one new concidering to purchase any bike. Be patient, and make friends with guys like Bruce from EJ cycles. You will need parts, there is no "IF".

Contact the DMV.If possible ,since it's a local bike take the guy selling it with you there,if they accept it,buy it,if they reject it,don't.He didn't make it clear in his post, but i think it is an individual who is selling it,not a dealer.

I am pretty sure that I am in a lot of trouble. The issue is not that it is an import. You can get the list of approved manufacturers and the accepted vin codes from those manufacturers. The problem is that my manufacturer/vin is not on that list. American Lifan, Hi-bird, and all of the others are on there, but mine is not. Chongqing Loncin is the manufacturers name and apparently the only way I can get it titled is to get that name/vin on their list. So basically I am completely f---. I can find almost nothing about this manufacturer on the internet and I can find nothing about the dealer that I bought it from. The dealer is Pacific Direct Sports LLC. If anyone knows anything about this, please help me out. If not, would anyone be able to send me scans of the MCO from one of their Lifans so I can see what my MCO needs to have to get titled. I might end up simply doctoring an MCO to get it titled. Has anyone tried this? I am pretty sure if you put the correct first 3 letters from the VIN the rest will not matter. Anyone with any ideas please help me out. thanks

To be on topic. The hi-bird is a decent bike. If you want it buy it, just make sure you can tag it first.
