That should light-up your life

Let us see how it looks when you get it mounted 8O

Good luck ,
Tigertamer.

Cool.Ill see if I can get a camera working.lol.it gices the bike a Chinese mini Ducati monster look....I thought it would look stupid....but it looks pretty good....I would probably sacrifice the 7" for a 5" or so.....but its all good!

If I saw it from head-on I would probably think it was from Milwaukee! 8)

I got the ac/dc sorted out.

The high beam switch now controls the driving lamp relay through a bridge rectifier. The D.C. current now goes to the lamps via the relay.

I did have to make a few sacrifices though. I had to swap the high and low beam wires to make my low beams drive both filaments in the stock headlamp. (70 watts). Now my switch is opposite. flip to high beam, and and stock lamp burns both filaments...the high beam indicator now turns blue with the low beams.

Also, my LED turn signals do not like the extra load and only work with the driving lights when tached pretty high (3-4k)

Confused? So am I...well, not quite, I just haven't sorted the bugs out yet. I want to make the switch right, and get some more current to the turn lamps...I will investigate the electronic relay first. I know for certain, mine is affected by high temperature. 8O

It works, so I'll keep this configuration till I work out my compromises. I am in no hurry for this stage. 8)

Meanwhile I'll start getting pics, vids, and notes together to share.

Thanks,
Tigertamer

Tigertamer,

Here is a schematic that I did up adding a relay to the headlight circuit to handle a higher load or to use a HID light, with the DC circuit.

Thanks for the help, Brother.

I'm sitting here retyping 30 minutes of dialog, because ImageShack is redirecting my browser to a blank page and loosing my text

So now I know to copy my text often!

I'm glad you feel eager to jump in here, because I was planning to put my Crayola notes on the forum . With your help we can make a GOOD diagram to take advantage of the bridge rectifier/relay combination. this will open-up new avenues of electrical modifications to those who are comfortable with electronics!

There must be some modifications to the new drawing to make it work properly for A.C. circuits...We only need an additional 4-pin component, a full wave bridge rectifier, to make it power A.C. circuits 8O.

Let me know and I can send you the drawings by PM or post...your choice.

Not sure what you mean about powering AC circuits??

The relay I added keeps the stator AC circuit to the headlight and converts the headlight switch to activate the relay for high beam using the DC power side. I am using the existing voltage regulator/rectifier. The wiring change also puts the taillight, meter lights and park light to the DC circuit so if you want to use a L.E.D. taillight and it will be on if you stall out in the night(been there and done that).

Send me what you have and I can do up a schematic.

Thanks,
Mark

The problem I see is, the A.C. from the stator will not trip the relay coil, because you need a D.C input to magnetize the relay coil! A.C. will not pull in the coil. That is why the bridge rectifier is needed in this scenario

Tigertamer, "Eigor, fetch me the Crayola diagrams".

Eigor, "Yes Master"

OK

This will give you an idea of the wiring. I will break-out the ruler and pencils to try to clean it up a bit...unless you beat me to it

Look in your in-box for my PM with land line info.

Thanks, mark

Here's a video of the stock double filament bulb (as low beam), 70 watt retrofit 55 watt x 2 high beam driving lamps, and LED turn signals.

Sorry the video wasn't included before

Tigertamer, can you show a picture or link to the led signals you used?

Here's a video:

http://www.veoh.com/videos/v15540662...&viewType=user

Here's the supplier:

www.wheelingcyclesupply.com

I don't know any part numbers for these, but you could e-mail him a link to my video, he should be able to identify it from the video.

EMAIL: info@wheelingcyclesupply.com

Happy hunting,

Just beware, if you need to drive a relay for any mods, you will need a rectifier for D.C. to trip the coil :!:

The LEDs are good with A.C., so if all you are doing is the brake and signal/tail lamps you will be OK. In fact, LEDs pull less current from the stator anyways

Good luck, keep us posted,
Tigertamer
