I saw a question about California residents and DMV paperwork.
This blog entry addresses that topic: http://californiascooterco.com/blog/?p=13443 In short, if you're in California we'll handle the DMV processing, but you'll still have to pay the DMV fees. If you're not in California you'll have to arrange the DMV paperwork in your state. |

Oregon requires an EPA certificate. Is that provided with the bike?

The Delphi manual describes it as a 6-pin connector. I'm not sure, but I think this might be the connector? Does it look familiar?

Not to me, but I found a pic of the Delphi scanner on page 61 of the manual. I wonder what the cost of a scanner is.

When Harbor Freight wants $85 for its least expensive, automotive scanner, I'm sure the Delphi scanner is not inexpensive.
http://www.harborfreight.com/can-obd...0693-html.html AutoZone will scan your car's computer for free. A lot of the Harley Davidson motorcycles employ Delphi EFI systems using the same MT05 ECM. The local Harley Davidson shop might not scan your Zong's computer for free, but I doubt they would charge very much. Of course, you can do a lot of EFI troubleshooting without a computer.

There is likely to be a CEL that can be used for troubleshooting, which would allow you to count the blinks and consult a table.

Does the acronym CEL stand for 'check engine light?'

The Delphi webpage for the Multec MT05 contains this information.
Serial Communication feature flexibility: Controller Area Network (CAN) or KW2000 http://delphi.com/shared/pdf/ppd/pwrtrn/mt05.pdf[/QUOTE]

I just found a web source which indicates you can use an OBD2 reader for all late model cars to communicate with the Delphi MT05 ECM. I will do some more research, and post my findings later.
In the meanwhile, here are several links to OBD2 and CAN scanners. You can get one from China for $16.25, delivered. http://www.nationaltoolwarehouse.com...IuJxoCATfw_wcB http://www.ebay.com/itm/Autel-MS300-...p2054897.l4275 http://www.harborfreight.com/can-obd...0693-html.html Apparently, you can also borrow an SERT scanner, and export the data to free graphing software. If you are interested in more information regarding the Delphi Multec EFI of the RX3, you might enjoy visiting my thread on this topic at the following link. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=14126

Exactly. In the early days of OBDI, it was common to use a paper clip to jump two terminals and make the CEL flash. It would flash a series of short and long flashes, which would translate to a code in the book. The problem was that each system was proprietary, which means that each auto manufacturer had a proprietary connector and unique codes. That all changed with OBDII.
You can still short two terminals on the ALDL (assembly line diagnostic link) port, but OBDII scanners are really cheap these days.

Carrying that logic forward, the Delphi MT05 likely stores the same codes as automobiles, which would be easily retrieved and diagnosed.

If there's hope for OBD there's hope for something similar to this
just find the pinouts and match em up. |

That is so cool! I appreciate how he adapted the connector to OBDII, and connected that to an Unltragauge.
That dude has some cash.
