That Shineray motor is looking like a better value now.

I just discovered you can buy the NX400 motorcycle in Mexico! The bike is sold as the NX4 Falcon.
http://www.honda.mx/motos/falcon/ Why don't we get these choices in the U.S.A.?

Or Canada?
Nice little adventure bike, but I wish it was air-cooled, like the XR400. At least in the great, free State of Idaho, you could buy one and register it at home.

It looks air cooled...
The only thing that I'd want to change right off the bat is swap the fender for a high mount. I'd be afraid of locking the wheel or damaging the fender with snow/mud/silt/sand between the fender and tire.

The NX4 Falcon is air cooled. I think you are seeing a nice, big oil cooler located behind the forks.

Is the Falcon made by Honda? In China or where?

The NX4 Falcon is a Honda motorcycle sold throughout Latin America. Apparently the bike has been manufactured in Brazil since 1999.

That seems to be the trend now. Manufacturing in Latin America, Malasia, and India.

The NX250 was liquid-cooled, so I presumed that the NX400 was as well, after seeing the giant cooler on the front. The NX400 article on Wikipedia indicates that it is a five speed, which is disappointing; even the XR250R and the XR200R have six speeds. The article also indicates that HP and torque dropped with the addition of fuel injection, which is typical. That's a reasonable trade for easy starting and excellent fuel economy. Translate this with Google Chrome: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_NX4_Falcon

After researching the Shineray X5 (XY400GY) and the Honda NX4 Falcon, I am beginning to appreciate my XR650L all the more. The XR650L has the traditional, Honda XR reliability and low maintenance. It also has a larger engine, and a better suspension, yet it doesn't weigh much more than the 400cc bikes.

The clear benefit to a 400 for me is the insurance savings. A 400 is in the same category as a 125 where I live, and a bike like yours would be double the cost of a 400 in BC. That's certainly not true for all Provinces in Canada, but it is here.

I understand. I'm fortunate; I don't pay much for motorcycle insurance in Idaho.
The long-term, Shineray X5 review at MCM is pretty positive, except for reports of broken spokes on the rear wheel. Some Buchanan's spokes would certainly fix that problem. Unfortunately, the Shineray X5 will probably never grace the shores of North America.

400cc. Everything between 111cc and 400cc is the same price.
