Ok thanks again!

I have “lubed” the chain with 10w40 once a week since getting the bike. I paint it on heavy with a brush, let it soak about an hour then give it a run through a rag to pick up any grit and excess oil. I’m hoping by August to switch to the Oring system. The 520 style I seen it called on here somewhere.

I would put the tightest point of chain clearance at 1-2mm. I see some scratches on the other guard and sprocket clamp. Chain reads 128H and sprocket are 17X46. Not much wiggle room in there at all.

i have a 17 tooth on and it jumped off and destroyed the cover but not the engine case. i adjust mine to where it has about 1/2" to 3/4" play when it is sitting on the jiffy stand and have never had a problem and no i didnt measure just tickled it with my toe. you all are thinking too much!

I had the chain jump the rear sprocket on my TT last December. It was my fault; I was running it too loose. I'm of the loose-is-better school, and I'd just cleaned and oiled it and eyeballed the slack; going over a bump the chain hopped off and rested between the sprocket and swingarm. Thankfully it didn't jam. Luckily it was only a couple of miles from home so I just drove my tools out and stand out and put it back on. It's amazing how fast you can do it when you're in a hurry...

The thing is, I didn't think it was that loose; I just thought the manual spec of 15mm was a bit tight so I left a bit of play in it.

if chain comes off rear just put it on top of the sprocket maybe 3 or 4 teeth and push bike backwards ...chain on no tools required.
