Just ride it for now, try to break it in by the weekend, then maybe order the Stage 1 cam next week.

Good to hear you like it. I put the 16T on the front and definitely like that change, but still it runs a little high in the RPMs, and as you said, 1st is sort of useless but it doesn't like starting in 2nd. I am still stock on the jetting, so in 5th it sometimes has some trouble on the hills. I am worried that going down on the rear sprocket will hurt that even more. Maybe if I can sort out the carb a bit and find a bit more power I will try it.

Nothing wrong with 5th being a sort of overdrive that is good for flat road cruising with reduced revs. Down shift as needed which you should be doing anyway.

Dropping even more teeth on the rear sprocket might make first gear more useable. As it is, you have two gears that aren't workable right now.

Agreed. If you are not going off road that's a fair comprimise. A Sixth gear would be better though. :P

I thought I read some where that Andrew has got his hands on one of the 44 tooth rear sprockets, any idea if he's made any progress with it?

Sorry trevort! I didn't catch this post! Mrs 2LZ and I were out of town this weekend working on our friend's log house. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

I can definitely say that it's NOT flat in 5th gear with the 16/44. There's plenty more to screw on with the setup I have now, but I'm still taking it easy due to break-in.
Being you have the XF with the smaller rear tire, I'd gamble on the 42 tooth sprocket for 20.00. Worth a try.

Here she is in finished form, finally. I can say that I can't be happier with my Q XP now. It just runs better with every mile! I think I'm finally done for now......until she's broken in. Then I'm seriously thinking about the Stage 1 cam.
