Things have been going pretty good. I'm hobbling around a bit without crutches for short spells, like getting that first all important cup of coffee in the morning.

Scooty McScootface is on the injured reserve list at the moment. I was rolling out the shop after work and talking with Inky Tim when the next thing I knew, I was on the ground. I'd hit a rut in the parking lot and went down, snapping a brake lever off in the process. I have a lever to replace it but have gotten used to the hobbling bit.

Had PT today and again tomorrow, along with a follow up with the Doc. I'm hoping I can ditch at least one of the crutches.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Put that on the top 10 list of things you didn't need...

Still a lot (God willing) of summer left, and I'll bet it's too hot/humid there right now for you to enjoy bicycle or motorcycle riding.

I went for a ride here yesterday after work in 100 degrees. The statement, 'Its a dry heat...' may be true but too hot is still too hot. Stay in the AC and heal.

Too hot and humid is right but I'm still jealous when someone rides past the house on two wheels.

Ditched one crutch yesterday and should be able to start driving the Jeep again in two weeks. Whee.

It's a start Cheezo! Getting closer to motorized 2 wheel travel, then self propelled.

Wandering around my office or around the house is basically crutch free, but it's only a couple of steps in any direction. Just enough to get to the coffee maker and the microwave.

Foot Doc and I had a somewhat heated discussion about the exercises he gave me. He felt I wasn't doing them often enough. Well, when you're stuck in a boot from 6:30am to 9:00pm, yeah, it ain't happening. Then I showed him the inside of the boot where I've put a divot in the foam from doing my own exercises that netted the same results. I still can't pick up the pen with my toes, but I couldn't before the surgery. With either foot.

Now that Karis is back home, though, I can kick the boot off around 6:00pm now and spend time on the exercises that he wants me to do.

I've put people accidently in the position of giving them exercises and limitations that are mutually exclusive... Looks like you have a plan though, should be OK.

IIRC you recently lost weight. Have you been able to keep it off? Inactivity is a %$#@!, especially for a bicyclist.

I've kept most of it off just by keeping my calorie intake lower. That 8pm Klondike Bar though...

Things are still improving. I was able to push the clutch in on the Jeep and get it started, then drive it a bit. Not ready for commuting yet but it was good enough to get the Jeep into the back yard and hook up to mini Chez Fromage so we could get back in it's parking spot.

One more plateau passed.

Mostly crutch free now. About the only time I'm using one is first thing in the morning until I get the stiffness out, then it's all day. According to my Fitbit, I'm averaging better than five thousand steps a day.

If it wasn't imitating Miami outside, I'd go out to the garage and fire up the CX.

I'm just catching up on this thread after being away for a bit. Your progress is remarkable! I bet it helps a lot that you were fit to begin with.

You really are getting better faster than forcast. Speaking of forecast I hope it improves there so you can fire up the ol' V Twin and ride!

Me too, Doc & Weld.

I showed up to my PT last Thursday without a crutch and got a high five from the therapist. Then we went on how much we hated them at this point in the recovery process.

I'm hurting a bit today. We went to a local flea market, among other things yesterday and I walked just a hair under five miles. I can tell it's muscles and tendons pitching a b*t&h. Bones feel a lot different when they complain. So, ibuprofen, elevation, and ice for a while today. Fingers are still crossed to start driving the Jeep next Thursday.

It's good that you have a "third pedal" vehicle to motivate you. The only one I own is in pieces right now.

Time to gently pedal a bike around the neighborhood I think. Also hit the higway on your fire breathing V-Twin.
