Hey, Hey, Hey!! Easy on the British cars... Just because I had more replacement wiring than factory wiring with that fine Lucas Electric system, that's no reason to bag on the Brits! And for the record, the dash was amazingly nice!

I had an MGA, an A-H Sprite, and a MGB in that order. For months, the electric gauges on the Sprite's dash didn't work, and back then I knew little about working on vehicles (probably a common ground was loose/corroded). On the day I sold it, all the gauges started working again!
Lucas Electrics = Lord of Darkness. Also had a BSA motorcycle. Driving home late one night, the headlight stopped working. (Ground again.) Got home by following the taillights of various cars ahead of me.

I had an MD-TD that was fully restored, and luckily the positive ground, 6V Lucas electrics worked flawlessly. My MGB, on the other hand, was a 6V positive ground the day I got it, and was a perfectly working 12V negative ground when I had to sell it. Of all the vehicles I've owned over the years, I think I miss my MG's the most.

To this day, when I see a Tiger Cub at a show or swap, I grab hold of one butt cheek and limp. But, dammit, I'd love another Midget.

I had a buddy with a Midget. It was fun to drive, but it was really one of those cars that you put on when you get in, and peel off when you get out. I'm 5' 10", and it was a tight fit even for me. My personal opinion is that they named it Midget to describe the only body type that will fit comfortably in it... I hope you're all pleased with yourselves... I am now, this very moment, looking at MG's for sale near me...

A buddy had an MGB, and it was easy to figure out after that Trident. I agree about the MG Midget though, I could barely get in and out. I was 6'0" .

My MGB was a right hand drive British Racing Green one I bought in Beijing, when I worked at the embassy there (Defense Attache Office). Was told it was one of only two convertibles in China. Had a great time with it for a couple of years; sold it when we left.
Also bought one of those Chang Jiang 750 military bikes with sidecar. also green. Copy of a late-1930s BMW side-valve. Lots of fun. Edit: the MGB was RHD because it was brought in by an Australian diplomat, who sold it to me.

I've had two Alfa Romeos. Had. A 916 spider and a JTD GT. Still miss both though. And then don't.

Has anybody ever told you you're a bad influence? I'm already the very proud owner of a Ural because of your corrupting guidance, and now I'm about to shoot myself in the foot with a return to the dungeons of Lucas Electrics!

I got rid of my older stuff because I was broke and didn't have time to spend on them. I admit that buying a vehicle as old or older than I am may not be the brightest move, but at least now I have time to wrench, and a little bit of money squirrelled away.
