You don't need large fans, just a couple like Weldandgrind suggested to cool the intercooler down right after a run and while staging. You'll have enough air flowing though it going down the track. You will want to put them to a switch so they be turned on constant and not turn off and on with the coolant temps. It drove me nuts trying to figure out why my IAT's were so high before I would make a run. Then it hit me one day that my fans weren't turning because the engine temps were to low to kick on the fans.

I'm pretty sure that the Crown Victoria and Lincoln fans are two speed, so you could set the switch to low for cruising through the pits and high after a pass. BTW, I completely agree that you can change direction by reversing polarity; only the effectiveness of spinning the fan backwards is in question.
This is one of my most favourite threads of all time!

Mine Too, a whole lot of been there and done that kind of experience and if I keep reading it I can see it start to cost me a whole lot of money. lol I do miss racing. I may get back into it once I retire and have time to play around with it again. I'll have to do a thread on my racing career someday.

Jerry, I'd love to hear about that. I grew up in the pits in the early '70's.

These are two speed as well. Well any two fans could be. These are single speed motors, as are most if not all electric motors, but the way they accomplish low and high speed is using a 3 relay system, during low speed activation the fans are inline (series) with each other then for high speed they are parallel. It's a super slick way to create a low and high speed with two electric motors very quickly. I can set up both in the pcm based on coolant temp.

That is correct and you can control pretty much everything on these GM pcm's. FYI tip in case you didn't know, for force induction you can bump up the voltage to the coils. High boost can blow the spark out. I also found that indexing the spark plug tip facing the intake valve helped protect the spark from being blown out. Just the opposite of NA.

My first experience with turbo's was in 1980. I had a 79 El Comino with a 350 SB. Try tuning a carbureted engine with a distributor and electronic ignition. lol EFI and PCM tuning is a breeze lol. Then in 1984 I threw a B&M blower on a 360 In my 83 Dodge Ramcharger. my first experience I EFI but was still a pain to tune.

From my limited research it seems the correct plug and a tight gap of 22ish and most don't have trouble with spark blowout. And yes there is a dwell time setting in the pcm for the coils, though I'm not sure how much of an effect it has in real life.

I don't remember how much I had bumped it up but it did resolve a misfire issue I was having. I haven't used HPTuner since I upgraded my computers to Windows 10. Now I can't install HPTuners to view my files. I'll have to see if I can download a newer version and hope I can open the older files with it. I was running anywhere from .034" to .040"

I feel stupid now lol. I've been trying to recover my password so I can download the latest version and after an hour I realized you don't have to have an account to download anymore.

Edit: Still stuck, I still have to gain access to my account to get the application key. Problem is the email account I used for the password account isn't active anymore. Thanks AT&T another reason I cut all ties with them.

I would call them or email them and explain the situation you are not the first person this has happened to.

Working on it now. It shouldn't be a problem. I've been a customer since 2004 and they always had great support.

Good New/Bad New. I was able to get the software unlocked so it can be used. Bad news is it will not read any of my old files and will not work with the old interface I have. Here's the response I got back from them.
"Thank you for contacting Support Jerry,

Unfortunately we no longer support these interfaces and these accounts have all been closed and they've met their end of life through us. With that said if you'd like more information about potentially sending in your serial interface for an upgrade to the newer MPVI unit let me know and I'll have our sales team get in contact with you shortly with instructions."
At the time I purchase they guaranteed lifetime of software upgrades. They honored that portion. Basically they are telling me Send us more money and we will resell you what you already own. I think I'll just take one of my older laptops and install Windows XP and install the older version in it and use it with the existing interface I have. "end of life my A__" it still works and has worked flawlessly for many years. I already own the unlimited package and looks like the way it is set up now I would have to pay to add a license for any new vehicles I add.
