Since CSC is now stepping in, it's a moot point but I wonder if the stalling problem might lay within? Hmmm. Will be interesting to see if we get a post-mortem from them. |

Zong issues
Yes , when I saw spuds top end tutorial and saw the decompression device I also wondered if that could be my issue. I too hope they tell me what was wrong with it!

Wow sorry to hear all this is happening to your new bike. Sounds like CSC is going to get you squared away but man what a bummer to have to go through this. / |

Ditto what Spud, LeeR and everyone else stated... good news that you're getting squared away. I can think of no other distributor (motorcycle, automotive, or other) that would step up and take care of a customer this way. Kudos to CSC for the exemplary customer service!

The decompression device has a long arm where it exits from the camshaft (see photo above). Once the engine starts running, centrifugal force on the arm causes the decompression device to rotate, moving the knob out of the slot on the camshaft. However, at speeds lower than 400 rpm, the spring holds the knob in a slot at the bottom of the exhaust cam. This protruding knob presses the exhaust valve rocker, and partially opens the exhaust valves.

zong stalls
well i adjusted the valves exactly like it shows in the csc tutorial,,could they be off ,,i guess its possible ,But it had the stalling issue from day one, before i did the adjustment. Not sure if that coud cause 40lbs. less compression... Will have to wait an see what csc says.

Stalling
I had a similar stalling problem with my F800GS although it usually required 80+*F air temp and 40 miles of engine warmup to manifest. It took four months and several new parts for the BMW dealer to finally find a fix. Final cure - new fuel pump. Several others on AdvRider had similar stalling - they fixed right away with an aftermarket pump - the OEM pump is $500!! Aftermarket <$100.

Compression
Now after seeing that the rx3 has a automatic decompression device , I wonder how one could get an accurate compression reading . My compression might not be low after all.

Of course, it is probably better to do a leak down test on these bikes.

Here is an interesting video which shows how the automatic demcompression device works on my Honda CRF250X, and our Zongshen RX3 motorcycles.

Compression
Spud , I must have said it wrong, according to jerry at csc the rx3 compression should be 160 an I only got120. So 40 less. Not sure how much the compression device lowers it

Perhaps the automatic decompression device in the RX3 isn't as aggressive as the same device in my Honda CRF250X. My Honda XR650L also has an automatic decompression device. The Honda service manual for that bike says compression should be 92 psi with decompression device enabled, and 199 psi with the decompression device disabled.

I looked at the parts drawing on the CSC website and could not see what type it was. Poor quality photo. I did a search in Amazon for "BMW F800 fuel pump" and came up with many choices, many of them "inline" as described above. Reading some descriptions it sounds like they are for carbs and need a pressure relief valve. This is one that fits my F800GS: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_9&sr=8-9 |
