I'm thinking of something along these line. Being that these bikes are meant for off road it would be a good idea of having a way to lock it in place so the center stand won't be bouncing around.

Perhaps an easier way to get the desired result would be a simple loop welded on one of the legs, projecting through an artfully placed slot in the skid plate, with a simple 3-point hitch lower arm snap-ring pin applied there upon...ARH

If it is that all possable mount the top of the spring
foward & above the stand pivot then it will hold
the stand in both the up & down positions...

Well folks, back to the real world. Time to get back on track with this project. I took some much needed time off over the Thanksgiving holidays. I had planned on doing 3 days of off road trail riding and camping but only ended up doing one day of trail riding. Thursday morning the wife wasn't feeling well so we hung around the campground. After eating my fill of thanksgiving lunch I couldn't stand seeing the Hawk sitting on the trailer and took a 45 mile ride on back roads and dirt logging roads. Friday morning we woke up to 31* temps but beautiful clears skies. We headed out to Tower Trax ATV park and put right at 51 miles of trail riding. This only took a little over 6 hours doing 5-20 mph. lol They have added a few more trails since last year and have really kept up the trails. I tested the skid plate out a few times jumping over logs. The daughter utv got hung up a few times but did well for not being lifted. The Hawk handled the hills well with the 15/40 sprockets. I wanted to shot some videos but my wife left the camera in the camper and no way was I attempting one handed driving with my phone trying to shoot any. lol There was quiet a few ATV's and UTV's with only a hand full of dirt bikes. We were some whooped puppies by the end of the day. Saturday wasn't so good. I woke up with a pinched nerve in my back and pretty much laid around in bed most of the day. I was so ready to go ride but my back wasn't cooperating.

Now back to our regular program. I haven't worked out an exact price for the skid plate/centerstand combo but should be in the $180-190 range. I still need to work out a better mounting of the springs. I tested a few options out over the holidays and think I got it worked out. The way I have it now works perfect but looks pardon the phrase looks "Jerry Rigged" and is unacceptable.

I made a few more center stands Saturday. I should have the skid plates this week. If I get them I'll clean them up and paint them and put all the hardware together to have the first batch shipped out next week. The steel skid plates with center stands will go for $190. Steel skid plate only $95 and Aluminum skid plate only $110. Shipping cost will depend on were it's being shipped to. I have 4 people that have PM me that want one. If interested pleas PM me as this will help me keep track of the order I will send out. I can get skid plate quick but the center stand will take longer as I only have the weekends to work on them and are very time consuming to build.

Here are a few pictures of kirbo7106's aluminum skid plate I finished up today. The steel skid plates were delayed a week. The fabricator was backed up on other projects and couldn't get them. He was going to get them done on Friday but we had a freak snow and ice even which shut them down due to lost of power. I should have them for the weekend so I can have them ready to start shipping out on Monday of next week.

Yes, it's my painting table as long as it's black. never have to worry about the top rusting.

Hehe, thats what i was thinking with the paint.

Was checking out south Lou and grand isle on the maps and saw Houma Louisiana and thought of you.. $18 beach camp sites at grand isle state park. Your next mission???

Sounds like you're planning a trip down this way. They do have a nice campground. I've been down there many times just never camped at the campground. When my wife and I first got married we would camp out on the beach at Elmers Island and Port Fourchon which is right before Grand Ilse in tents until they closed the beach off to vehicle traffic. At one time you could just drive out on the beach and set up camp. Nothing like fishing off the beach catching and frying up some fresh speckled trout.
We have and are doing tons of construction work in Port Fourchon which is right before Grand Ilse. We are building were at one time it was nothing but water. If you want to see something interesting, look up Port Fourchon on Google Earth and go back in time to see how much they have built up land and are still building. We built about 1/4 of the buildings and tank farm there.

Looks like the skid plates will be delayed another week. The fabricator is doing a large project for us right now which take priority over my little project. He will be caught up by Friday and told me the middle of next week he will have them. I'll get these things out the door eventually. I guess i'll make a few more center stands over the weekend.

The never ending delays. The fabricator had an emergency surgery last week and is still home recovering. So it looks like it will be after new years before they will be produced. Look at it this way. It will be the 2018 model.

Not entirely a bad thing. Trying to get stuff done around the silly season can always be a headache. They will get done when they can get done.

Update. I sent out a few of the skid plates and center stands out. I have two skid plates with center stand and two steel skid plates ready to be shipped out. Skid plate with center stands are $190 + shipping and steel Skid plates are $95. Shipping can run from $18 to $28 depending on where it is being shipped. These prices are only good for what I have made. The fabricator informed me that the cost to form the plates have doubled and the cost as of right now will add about $25 to each. I'm talking with another fabricator to see if I can get this cost down back down. If not I'll have to get a hydraulic press and form them myself. As of right now it's hard to find the time to do the work myself. I'm really not making a lot on these and doing them more just to help out fellow hawk owner because you guys rock with all the great info you have provided. I enjoy this kind of stuff and wished I have more spare time to do it. PM me if you want one.
