Just keep the presssure on Harold and Al. Well, 19 days to retirement. 18 days to retirement . 17....you get the idea.

See my previous post for how I think your advisory role should go.....

Stick with your plan- leave on the date you gave them. They'll call, but don't answer. Let them hear 'crickets". A month of being incommunicado, gives you time to assess your position. Stay done and ignore any attempt from them to contact you, or return as chief ass-kicker terminator for whatever stupid money you decide is worth it.

I have only one question ,and most of you already know what it is ,what is going to happen to our entertainment ,when Cheesy does leave his job ? It is not everyday we come across somebody willing to be as miserable as Cheesy at the end of his work life ,so I am worried a replacement will be tough to find .

I often wake up in a cold sweat over this very problem.

Cancun has been a nice break from the cluster. I discovered the Mosley burger, which takes two hands to eat and Flor de Cano, a rum from Nicaragua.

I’m staying at the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport and most of the staff knows me by now. I’m a Diamond member with Hilton, aka, the “I don’t have a life card”, so that also has a lot to do with it. I had to tell the manager to please have the staff stop calling me Mr. Bullis, sir. Mr. Mike was acceptable, but just plain old Mike was preferred.

Tomorrow morning, I stroll over to Avis to pick up my rental car, pick up the new hire at Terminal 3(see, I’ve been here too many times), then do the 100 mile drive to Valladolid to the hotel there while explaining the possible brain damage he can expect while working here.

On another note, I apparently forgot to do a monthly ‘Safety Exam’ and the HR Maven has attempted to call me on the carpet. Nine out of ten of these damn things are just acknowledging you read the stupid things. This one has a quiz I need print, scan and return. So, I pointed out to her that I have been in Mexico, where I do not have access to a printer or scanner, or I have been on vacation, where Beaufort and Safety Exams do not exist. She said that I had every opportunity to do it while I was on vacation. I exploded over the phone with her. In a nutshell, her choices were to stick the stupid exams where the sun don’t shine or fire me, neither which she is capable of doing. Normally, the field guys just do these things to keep her off our backs but I’ve developed some serious Short Timers Disease in the last few months.

Useful info:
In Russian that would be сыр, pronounced "sir", with the "i" pronounced as in pit.

When you arrive at the airport in Moscow, as you head toward baggage claim, look for a guy holding up a sign with that word on it to find your driver. Unless of course they think to use the English word.

A little remark from the russian speaker. You're absolutely right about the word, but it will be pronounced with the short I as in Pit in Ukrainian language. In Russian, Ы in "Сыр" is pronounced... Well, there is no direct equivalent in English phonetics, but imagine a very wide I... As if we transcribe Сыр as Syr, but again, there is no direct transliteration.

I'm glad we have an expert now who can assist Senior Cheezy with the transition to working for President Putin.

If i would be invited as an expert, my first advice would be something about being prepared for, at least, the exact bureaucracy, idiotism, and lack of adequate management at any Russian/CIS company, as it is in Beaufort. Currently i'm working as QA Automation engineer (as an offshore contractor) for a huge US tech company, and despite all the dumb things and decisions that are made from time to time, it's a spa resort, comparing to my previous local employers

Yeah, I was thinking the closest English word would be sear, as in what you do to meat. I think that would at least be pretty understandable.
