I fully support suggested measures about staying home and social distancing, but mandatory measures enforced by law?

If you are afraid of Covid-19, let me share my experience with it so far. Yep, that's right, I have it.

I am in one of the "safe" age groups being 37 years old. My symptoms started quite literally on my birthday (the 21st). I have been in self quarantine, which is the reason I have been around so much the last week, at least when I wasn't trying to sleep or just not feeling up to doing much of anything.

Fever? Yep, although mine was on the mild end of the scale, reaching no higher than 102.1, and was well controlled with tylenol. I finally broke my fever yesterday and today it is a nice 98.6 on the nose.

Had a constant headache the entire time, not a bad one, but never ending. Nothing helped make it go away.

Body aches - oh yeah. Made it hard to sleep honestly.

I definitely had trouble breathing and a constant dry cough. I am still fighting that part of it, though now I am actually coughing with some results at least. I still run out of breath if I try to do anything like carry some stuff up the stairs, and I cough..and cough..and cough. They gave me a prescription cough med at one point, but I ran out. My abs feel like I have been doing situps for a week straight. My throat was also a bit scratchy and dry feeling the whole time. I personally wouldn't call it "sore" but definitely unpleasant.

This is the real problem, everybody is affected by it differently. Some people have tested positive and shown zero outward symptoms. Many people experience it like I did, a miserable but otherwise tolerable experience. Currently in the U.S. only 7% of positively identified cases have required hospitalization, and the reality of that statistic is likely even lower because they aren't actually testing most potential cases. Heck, my girlfriend was sat right next to a guy for a week that tested positive, then she had the symptoms. Did they test her? No. In truth, they are hardly testing anybody at this point unless you meet certain criteria or end up in the ER or ICU, and only then after all other tests come back negative.

Don't get me wrong though. I am taking this very seriously, because while it may not have been a big deal for me I do understand that I can expose very at-risk people to a potentially lethal disease. That is the part I think some people don't understand. There is some truth the the "hype" that the media and governments are putting on this. I would hate knowing that I killed somebody like my stepmother who has autoimmune issues, or my 86 year old grandfather, or just my parents as a whole who also fall into the higher risk groups just due to their age. So, here I sit, staring at my four walls for another few days of isolation from the rest of the world.

That's the big deal with the Covid, if you are healthy, good lung capacity chances are this is going to be just like another annoying flu..
But you can infect someone who are either too weak because they are quite old, have health issues.

Sometimes that is hard to make people understand.. I'm not afraid that i may die from COVID, i'm WORRIED that i may infect someone who will died because of it.

For most people it will turn just fine. The side effect they found, is that some of those who recovered from covid, lost around 10% lung capacity...
WHICH can be recovered and raised, just running, swimming, etc.

I am past the worst of it now. Just gotta recover.

Plus, I am too ugly to die.

I won't lie though, it was a miserable week. I had to fight for an hour or two of sleep at a time, and I finally got some real rest in the last couple of days. At one point even tylenol was just barely doing anything for my fever. I drank a ton of water though, which is normal for me. I have a 64oz thermos that I keep by me and I probably emptied it 6 times a day.

Usually the loss of lung capacity comes from the more severe cases. Even if you do experience some loss, it will recover over time even without any effort. Lung tissue is one of the few in the body that actually has a good regeneration rate. That is why even smokers can see nearly full recovery if they have quit for a very long time. The same thing can sometimes be seen in severe cases of pneumonia.

My best friend and her son have been fighting it. She has been for almost a month. Her son recovered very quickly. Both of them got pink eye toward the end of the cycle. Apparently, Covid can hit your eyes thru the sinuses. Now she's just got the "super-tireds" and a cough with a sore-ish throat, but is on the mend.

I'm one of those high risk sorts that is currently hiding from the world. Easy to hide here though.

No joking, the "Super-tireds" is a thing. My girlfriend went through it, and now that I am starting to feel a bit better so am I. I have done nothing but sleep today and I still just have nothing to give. The cough as well as my lungs are still not clear.

I'm glad you're recovering Dan. Thankfully I live in a remote area but one of the adjoining counties does have 2 confirmed cases so it will probably make the rounds here eventually. I do have type O negative blood so I may experience less symptoms, but my lungs aren't in the best shape and I've got a bad heart so survival will probably be a roll of the dice for me. But if it's my turn so be it. I have been spending more time on my quads and trying to enjoy myself. 🙂
