Hawk 250 Valve adjustment runs bad

Hey guys. I have a 2020 hawk 250 enduro. I adjusted the valves according to the specs but now it runs like crap and constantly bogs down, won't go over 50 mph and the spark plug has started to slightly turn brown. Anyone have any tips to fix this? Is there some type of adjustment I need to make with the carburetor?

To be clear, was it running fine before? Did it sit for a while during the valve adjustment?

It was running fine before and didn't sit. I just got it and it was the first valve adjustment I did since it came from the factory. I'm starting to think I may have adjusted them on the exhaust storke not TDC on the compression stroke.

That's a good possibility, I would double check that first.
