Hello from Ohio
Hi just found you guys. I've been riding motorcycles on-road since 1983. If you count dirt bikes that's been since the 70s. I was in the hospital and didn't get my driver's license renewed in time so I'm going to have to retake my car and motorcycle endorsement tests. I was thinking that my 800-pound touring motorcycle might not be the ideal for a maneuverability test so I started looking at cheap alternatives. I've become kind of obsessed with these Chinese motorcycles and motor scooters. I think before it's over I'll probably have a couple. LOL right now to pass the test I'm just looking for a cheap 150cc scooter that can get me up to at least 50 miles an hour to get to the test site and buzz around our back roads.
I think I'll eventually get one of the Orion 250cc duel sports for exploring the dirt roads like I did add a kid. Anyway, thanks for having me. |

Welcome aboard! I would bypass the scooter and just get the 250cc. You will be happier in the long run. Scooter with small wheels and potholes are a bad combination.

Welcome!!! I agree with Jerry go straight to the dual sport. you might just want to look at the Brozz while you are researching it's a very good bike for the street and a good trail bike. brozz250.com

I could see that. The only reason I was thinking scooter was because I've never owned one and it looks like fun for around $1,200. I've had 39 street bikes over the years, maybe a dozen or so dirt bikes (I'm old and I know I'm forgetting some). I've had mopeds and a Wizzer Bicycle but never a scooter. I may bypass it, but for some reason it just sounds like a fun toy for a year then maybe sell it and get half back or so. I mean they are actually cheaper than my phone.

Scooters are fun and practical. Carry things easier than a motorcycle and better weather protection. Just not great off pavement. Seems like all the Chinese scooters use the GY6 engines so parts are cheap and available.
After I sold my last Vespa in 1988 I've only had motorcycles but just got another scooter. Very different than the old Vespas. |

LOL, I rode a Bergman that belonged to one of the neighbor's cousins(at his first BBQ of the year) that thing was amazing. But it was also something like 650cc's. From what I've been seeing the Tao Tao 150s should go fast enough to get me down the 6 mile stretch into town. So I'm thinking Lancer for a run around, and then add the dual sport later...and I'll still be about half the price of the KLR 650 ADV I had been thinking of.
