sooooooooo...how hot is too hot?

How hot should the top end get on a 150cc air cooled Loncin lump? If the cooling fins get wet it sizzles pretty violently, but the bottom end isn't too bad...I can hold my hand to clutch cover for a three or four seconds so it's not unreasonable. I do have some heat concerns, though, and am going to get a temp gun after it later...just curious what I need to look for.

Never actually measured one, but my guess would be that if you can hold your hand on it, it's not more than 120F. Please let us know what you find.

I can put my hand on the case...so I'm not too worried about case temps. I can cook on the head. I know that my old GS750 the head temperatures were 350~400*f, with the jug temps being a little on the warmer side.

I'll measure them later tonight but I don't know if these singles should be warmer or cooler.

Liquid cooled vs air cooled lol.

What weight oil are you using? 15w40 will help to cool the engine better than (ex) 5x30.

10 30 probably. It's due for an oil change, though....stuff is starting to look a little thin.
