XP200 Rear Shock Replacement

It has been a while since I have posted to this site. I have had a busy year or so (marriage and a baby) and am in the process of trying to get my bike ready to ride by winter. The rear shock of my XP200 leaked oil and basically feels like a spring without any pre-load. The Qlink website only sells whole shock assemblies, and they seem pricey ($120-ish) considering the rear shock was never great to begin with. Does anyone know of a drop in replacement shock that will fit or is it possible to rebuild the shock with new seals? I have tried contacting Qlink by email and it has been half a week without a reply.

I seem to remember some very old posts where some riders used an R6 rear shock, but I'm not sure. Perhaps a search for R6 shock would reveal something.

IIRC the R6 shock was used on a Hondoid, not a Q, although I suppose it would work fine there too.

Is the DR200 shock close enough?

I bet it's identical, but I can't say for sure.

Does this look similar? You can probably find a better price.

Thanks for all the tips, I called SSR Motorsports today since they sell XF200's which look like a Qlink replica just to see how much they sell their rear shocks for. They sell them for the same price as Qlink, the "specialist" i spoke to, did however, confirm that the shock can be rebuilt if I take it to a suspension shop.....So I think I am going to see if I can find someone willing to mess with repairing it. If all else fails I think those DR200 shocks are tempting and they probably ride a ton smoother as well.

I'd upgrade to the Suzuki unit if it would work.

I hate replacing a part that failed prematurely with the identical part...

Both mounting points of the Suzuki shock must fit your XP200. You can ask the vendor to take measurements for you. Also, the length of the shock from eyelet to eyelet should be similar to the length to your QLink shock.

Menmber bsskibum is also from phoenix and goes to one of the mechanics trade schools (don't think it's MMI). But he has worked on his own Zongshen street bike. He has not posted in a while, although he said he would be up for a meet up of those of us down this way in the desert southwest a few months ago (when he agreed we should get together, not get together in our HOT season).

Based on the schematics of the DR200 on Bike Bandit and the Qlink book for the XF/XP200, the shocks and related hardware look the same. There are shocks on Ebay for the DR200 that detail the eye to eye measurements also. The DR200 shock, as far as I can tell, does not have the air valve that the XF/XP shock does, however. I don't think any of us used that feature anyway.
