Lifan 200gy-Timing Issue

Hello Everyone,
I have a 2007 Lifan 200gy with a major timing issue. Back in August I came back in from riding and the next day when I tried to start the bike I couldn't get it to start. (I was recently laid off so I have free time!!!)

Here is what I checked/replace so far:
-Ignition Coil (Replaced)
-Spark Plug (Replaced)
-CDI (Replaced)
-Ignition Safety Switch (Replaced)
-Carburetor (Replaced)
-Spark Plug Wire (Replaced)
-Check for compression (Good Compression)
-Check for good gas (Good Gas)
-Check for spark (Blue Spark)
-Mechanically check for TDC (Everything checks out)

The bike seems to want to start because its backfiring, I don't want I'm missing.

Here is the kicker. Back in July my magneto was failing so I replaced with one I got out of a donor engine (Had about 1000 miles on it). Drove it for a couple of weeks and now it doesn't want to start. Any suggestions. The magneto does not have elongated holes so there is no way to adjust the pick up coil.

New gas and strong spark? If you give it a little spray of starter fluid in the carb it kicks over? Keep in mind also the air filter must be installed for the bike to run. The carb requires the restricted air flow to operate correctly. If still wont run I would be suspicious of the new carb. I don't see how it could have jumped timing.

Yes brand new gas, I drained the old and put fresh 92 in. The spark is blue. When I spray starting fluid in the carb is back fires and shoots flames out.
I believe the Carb is good because there is semi burnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. It seems like it wants to start but it wont completely run.

Make sure you try it with the air cleaner installed. This has tricked up a lot of people.

Have you checked the valve lash?

@ Mudflap-Is the valve lash the clearance between the rocket arm and the valve itself.
Adjuster-Tonight I tried starting the engine with the air cleaner off and nothing.

I agree; check the valve lash. Yes, it's the distance between the rocker and valve tip.

Yes, if the valve clearances are too tight, the bike won't start.

Another possibility is a sheared flywheel key. Could have been caused by not getting the flywheel nut tight enough after replacing the stator.

I will check the flywheel key. For Lifan's you don't have to remove the flywheel to remove the stator because the stator is actually mounted in the engine cover itself. Good call about the flywheel key I will be checking that out tonight.

Valve clearances are also correct, I checked and rechecked the gap.

If the flywheel key was sheared would I still be getting spark?

Possibly, but at the wrong time.

If you have a strobe type timing light you can check ignition timing with no need to pull the flywheel to check the key.
