Lowering

The narrow seat didn't bring me any closer to the ground.

The advertised seat height of the RX3 is 31.3 inches. The seat on mine measures 32". The narrow seat is no better.

So it's time to get back on the ground again...:grr:

I purchased the link with the bearings already installed, a great help.

They must use a impact wrench when tightening the bolts on the link.

Loosening the nuts was one of the hardest parts.

The other hard part was trying to get back up off the ground...;)

I still can't get my feet completely flat on the ground. I have to slightly lean to one side or the other.

Next is to raise the forks up a bit.

Also, I think the preload is not set right. Only 3/4" rider sag with all my gear on. But that will have to wait until I do the valve check...when the bike is already apart.

Yep. Marzhere was looking at the narrower seat as well. Even though narrower, its not any shorter than the stock seat.

We opted to shave the stock seat down a little and make it a little narrower. Although there's not much padding to shave.

We also got the lowering link installed which helped quite a bit. Got Marzhere off her toes and down on the balls of her feet.

We did not move the forks up in the triple trees as yet.

I have installed lowering links on both my Honda XR650L, and Honda CRF250X. Moving the forks up in the triple tree helps a lot to lower the saddle height. ;)

Sorry I couldn't found how much can you lower the seat with the new link, can you tell us?

The specs from the CSC website say it's a 1" lowering link. I didn't do before and after measurements but that seems accurate.

The stock bars without a riser only allows for ~3/8" adjustment to slide the forks up. At least for now Marzhere is ok with the set up, but good to know it will make a difference if need be.

Yeah, the narrow seat isn't any lower than stock, but it's a lot more comfortable.

Tiger12XC raised the forks 1/2-inch, and documented his work in the following thread.

You will definitely notice a lowering of the saddle height if you raise the forks the same amount. :)
