This picking a bike is killing me...

I am considering these 2

http://store.oohla.com/storefiles/terminatorscooter//upload/imagemanager/465/1181949152874.jpg

and

http://www.atvdiscounter.com/pictures/_5/4730/4729057.jpg

Ok now I know prices or too close to bicker about.....

My biggest worry is the size.... I am short.... I am 5' 8" and weigh 140

I have sat on a Yamaha XT250 ....it has a 31.9" (lets say 32")seat height

I was tip toed on it and would have been a comfortable ride for me....

I have a 30" inseam...

I am afraid that anything larger would be uncomfortable ride ...

I don't want to teeter totter at a red light....too embarrassing....

The Gy5 looks huge..... the Roketa has a lower seat....and I think it may be comfortable...

The gy5 seems to be more popular...

The Roketa looks cool too...

I don't wanna buy one and then find out I am too short to be comfortable on one at a stop sign....

Am I making sense?

Please help .....

Tagging is another thing I am worried about....But I am in Alabama and the DMV is not too strict around here...I hope...

I usually steer people towards the GY-5, but I have heard its uncomfortable. However, I would still seriously consider it, due to it being DOT certified for 49 states, which should help in registration. I am only 5'7", w/ a 30" inseam, and had little problem sitting on my jetmoto, which had a 35" seat, but i used to ride a DR250s which got me used to tippy-toeing, so I am not too intimidated by tall-ish seats.

Both of these bikes have a high seat height that maybe uncomfortable for you.

You can always make a low seat for the bike and that would probably solve all of your problems.

It really isn't too hard and would work wonders for most of the wood seats these China bikes come with.

I was reading about some dude who made a low seat for his bike by adding layers of carpet underlay and gluing them together until it was perfect. and then convering them with leatherette.

You may want to check out the Zongshen Sierra 200 since they are a couple inches shorter then most of the other China DS bikes. I only provided this link to show the bike. I know nothing about this seller.

The Roketa specs show a 30.7" seat height

I'd stay away from the Zhongshen. Just fom all of the horror stories I've read about them.

Mine is a Zongshen and it has been a great bike. There are horror stories that cover every make of China bike out there..

I think you'll be fine with either one. My bike has about a 33" seat hight, I have a 32" inseam. and I weight about 165. When I sit on my bike it always drop's a little from just my body weight so I sit comfortable on it....

I think the staying away part is from the Sierra/X-Ranger models made by Zongshen; 'SamM' from here, 'Beemer Boy' on ADVrider.com, 'PolygonFla' from here, and 'CrazyCarl' from here and other forum sites (but most recently mentioned it here) have all had issues/problems/first-hand experiences with the Sierra model.

The Roketa would seem to fit You as far a seat height goes, The Lifan has the new motor though....Tough choice.....But I would say the Roketa because of the seat. And it looks good. Oh I forgot the LIfan has the smaller sprocket so it would do better on the street...You would have to change the one on the Roketa

Go with the Roketa. That's a nice looking bike and they are a good machine. BTW the Roketa's use a Zongshen engine, but they are well tested on this forum and have had MUCH fewer engine / tranny issues then the Lifans and other brands. Can't go wrong with either bike really.

I got my Roketa a couple years ago. It has been a decent bike. I would concur with the others that the engine has been FLAWLESS... starts every time... The plastic bits were cheap.. but i did not care...
I don't know where you are located. I am in Cincinnati Ohio... There is a distributer near here.. In Milan In... this is where I got mine... New in a crate.. took it home in a pickup truck..

Here is the URL.. I have the DB07, I got in for $899 Had no trouble registering it in Ohio.

He has little inventory now.. But in the summer he has LOTS of stuff that is not even on his web site... He had a much smaller 200cc dual sport.. that has a narrower and lower seat.. also had a 250 twin cyl standard syle bike... again not shown on his site.

In the meantime get prepared for its arrival by getting any nonstock parts ordered and tubes of loc tite. Tools, helpers, oil, gas.

Also get a helmet/jacket/gloves too.

yep jackets and helmets are a great idea....I pick up one of these $75 Leather Armored jackets and it is awesome..... I am even thinking about getting one of the Mesh ones for summer....It is actually a nice jacket....WARNING! I would order it one size bigger.....I ordered a 42 and it is a little snug...but nothing to serious as long as I don't eat a big meal.... :D

I wear in jacket in the 100 degree heat and don't get hot. Just need ones that breathe.

Sam had some used gear for sale too. I have bought a few jackets used on ebay and got some good deals.

Stay far away from the Zongshen Sierra 200 and QLink X-Ranger 200. If you don't believe me check the Forum. There are many posts about it do a search. Parts are not available for these bikes. Zongshen also makes a Honda cloned bike very similar to the Lifan GY-2. It's a much better bike. That's the one you want. Also 250cc engines are available for that bike. I believe they call it the Ranger 200.

If anyone needs parts PM me. I'm selling some of my Zongshen parts and keeping some. Just let me know what you need. The engine, electrical parts, forks, tires, and a few other parts all go.

Here is the bike in question. Oddball wheels and all. If you need 18" and 15" knobbies get with me quick. These are going on ebay soon.

For the record I really like my little bike and it's a hoot to ride. It's fast enough and very Supermoto like. The lack of parts is killing me. Mine was sold to me with a bent frame. I tried very hard to purchase a new frame but no dealers would help me out. I've ordered parts from numerous dealers and never hear one word back. Buyer beware!

KW4TX, After looking at the Hooper site, I suggest you consider the GY-2 model. It's right in your budget, and the seat height is listed at 32"
