Congrats! You're going to really like it. So is yours one from the new shipment? I know Venom was trying to get them with a smaller rear sprocket and hopefully they got the speedometer calibrated a little better.

Here she is. I have to say this bike has already exceeded my expectations. The quality of this machine is so much better than my last China bike. Didn’t get a chance to star it yet but definitely will tomorrow. Still has a 42 tooth rear sprocket so I am guessing nothing got changed on this batch.

I just noticed some differences on the engine. Has different covers on both sides of the engine. There is no oil sight glass and it appears to have a little different clutch cable assembly.

The only difference i see between yours and mine is i have the sight glass. Well maybe the clutch cover is a little different. How much money did that save them? :hmm:

She fired up on the first turn over. Man does it sound good! I am in love with this bike already and I haven’t even rode it. I have jetting, cat removal, exhaust swap k&n pod filter, sprocket change mods to do once my work slows down a bit.

Those few little mods will make you like it more. The sprocket change alone will make the bike feel much better.

I also was extremely impressed with the quality of the bike compared to my expectations.
Use some brake cleaner on the rotors if you haven’t. They come shipped with oil on them and it takes a few hundred miles to wear off naturally, but the brakes work much better once it’s off. Also, I bled the brakes and added better brake fluid which also helped. Now the brakes bite very nicely.
Yes, the pod air filter, cat removal, jetting, and sprocket change really really improve the bike. Also, it’ll gain more power as it breaks in.
It really is a fun bike. The only real negative at this point on mine is the battery was pretty cheap and after sitting due to rain for a week it was dead. This happened twice so I replaced it and I hope I have more luck with this one. Otherwise, the bike has greatly exceeded my expectations.

I have been so busy with work I have only got to ride maybe 4-5 times. I did however install a k&n pod filter and re jet to a 108 main and drilled the plug out of the air/fuel screw. Jetting makes such a difference. I am still only hitting around 60mph top speed. I ordered a 36 tooth rear sprocket last night and hope to gut the cat sometime this next week. I am looking at bigger engine mods and ran across a big bore kit on eBay that comes with cylinder, piston, cam and rocker arms for 169.00. It’s a Chinese kit. Does anyone have any experience with Chinese big bore kits? Is it something to avoid? I can’t find any Athena kits anywhere right now. Link to the kit below.

You will be looking at pitbike suppliers for your horizontal engine. Try Pete at Kronik Racing. He has been dealing in pitbikes and performance parts for them, but due to his proximity to Baodaio/Boom's headquarters has become quite knowledgeable on that brand's bikes. www.kronikracing.com

Well I went ahead and ordered the Chinese big bore kit. It comes with a new cam as well. It went on sale for $136 so I couldn’t resist. The seller on eBay has positive reviews and most of what they sell is bore kits so I felt pretty confident it won’t be junk. I will post pics when it arrives in a month.

That's a good price for a big bore kit. Are you going to deck the head? Reason i asked is because that kit will have the same compression ratio as stock. The Athena kit comes with a 11:1 CR piston but no cam. I'm curious what the specs are on the cam. It looks to be aggressive from the pictures. Hope it works well as that's a cheap upgrade.

A set of these silent rocker arms would go well with that cam. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Roller-Rocker-Arm-Honda-TLR200-CRF230-XL200-FTR223-SL230-XLR125-CLR125-XLR200-NX/174322985798?hash=item289675ab46:g:0hEAAOSw0rVe7dF j

I am going to get the Wiseco 11:1 67mm piston. Even with that the kit is cheaper than a cam and Athena kit. I just hope it all works.

Oh i agree. That same seller has a nice price on the cam and roller rockers. That's why i'm curious on how the cam is going to work out. Hope it put down some good HP numbers.

Is there a gasket at the exhaust header connection to the engine? I found this hunk of whatever it is when I pulled my exhaust.

There is a huge choke point at the first bend in the header. Did you grind that down Jerry?

Yes, i sure did. Look at my first mod video on the bike. Here's what mine looked like. http://www.chinariders.net/showpost.php?p=328672&postcount=1

This might be on someone else’s thread but I couldn’t find it. How do you know which line to hook up where on the oil cooler inlet and outlet of the engine? Also, does the blue plastic ring stay on there or does that need removed before installation?

You will want to hook the line with the filter on it to the hole on the adapter that goes towards the center f the adapter. This is the suction side of the adapter. That way if there is any kind of metal in the cooler it will get trapped by the screen before it goes into the pump. The blue plastic ring stays in place. It's what seals the adapter against the engine block. Hope that makes sense.

Where did you get the rear sprocket from?
I wonder if it would fit a regular x22??

I don't know if yours will be the same but doesn't really matter because the sprockets are custom made. I got mine from here. https://shop.pbisprockets.com/product.sc?productId=503

I was a bit uncomfortable on the X22R because of the low handle bars And a bum shoulder so I installed a set of 1” clip on risers today. I decided to try putting them on in reverse so that they angle up slightly towards me instead of down. I am really happy with the results. They give me a much more relaxed upright riding position and take the pressure off of my hands and shoulders. Well worth a try if anyone is having the same comfort issues.
These are the risers I bought but it looks like they are currently out of the 48mm
Size needed for the x22R

I have a set of those in gold. I installed them the same way you did. I kept them on for a few weeks then took them back off. The risers felt more like riding my Hawk. The stock ones put me in a more comfortable position. So i have a set of hardly used gold if someone needs them.
