Got a good price though, made a litle money and had a good time fixing it up and riding it for the past 5 months.
Sold it to a nice father and son. The boy saved up his own money and paid cash. I threw in a decent Shoei helmet and the shop manual and other stuff.

For the next 22 hours I will officially NOT have a Chinabike. :(
Tomorrow I pick up a Pitster Pro 400.
Wish me luck! :D

Wow! You sold the Rat already? Wishing you the best of luck with the PP400!

With the KLX I don't really need The Dirt Rat and rather than have it sit I let it go. I try to not accumilate but rather rotate bikes through the garage. If I did not get the PP I'd have kept The Dirt Rat for a while longer.

Do you still have a pile of XR junk, or did you sell it along with the bike?
Glad to hear that it went to a good home. :D
Tell us more about the PP, you tease!

I always have junk!
I need to keep Kato out of my shed!
He's throw it in his Ranger and recycle it all to buy belts for his scooter.

I got belt 3 coming as a spare.
Actually picked up a box to ship you an XR engine for Weld.

If that's the case Kato, you can probably ship it directly to my Sumas, WA address for the same price. I'll send you a PM.

Doc - Fill us in PLEASE - What made you decide to go for a Pitster Pro? I was thinking awhile back it was you - Maybe NOT Someone, told me they were NOT a very proven or good product? I have seen them, and can't wait to see what you have to say about them. I was amazed when I saw them for $1900 Shipped.....I hop this works out for you becuase they "LOOK" like pretty decent bikes.

It was me.
Even by Chinabike standards the PP400's seem to have more than their share of issues.
Here's the background.
Daddy, one of our members bought a PP400 that gave him fits. In 9 months he hardly rode it at all. Engine and clutch problems. He was at the end of his patience with it.
This happened at a moment of weakness on my part, not having a project and an XR that I was ready to 'upgrade'. I thought I could fix and hopefully enjoy Daddy's PP400 so we made a deal at a fair price.
Daddy lives semi-close in Spokane, and I will met him tonight 1/2 way in Ritzville, WA.
The plan is for me to ride the PP400 in a 100 mile organized Dualsport ride tomorrow out of the Ritzville area, and then ride it about 90 miles home from there.
This is why I need prayers. This is ambitious for a troublesome, albeit new motorcycle. Roger is with me if it pukes, and home it will go on the trailer.

Cool - Thanks for sharing the background with us Doc - I'll say a prayer your ride is successful, and the bike proves reliable and works for you.
I see Pro PiTSTER DID AWAY WITH THIER xt250 Sumo's? They are no longer on thier website anyways I couldn'd find them.....Best Wishes Doc!

I may be DUMBER than you are.
The clutch plates must have been stuck. They fixed themselves and Daddy changed the oil and had been riding it since without problems.
XY Canada has a complete clutch, basket bushings seals bearings and all for less than $200 if it comes to that...

Ahh! Good to hear it resolved itself :). As far as the dumber part, I would just say more adventurous... A noble trait in a dual sport rider! Wishing you a fantastic and trouble free ride! Please take lots of pics for us, you know how we all like pics :D

I wondered if it might be Daddy's bike, given your relative proximity. Too bad that he wasn't able to enjoy it like he had hoped.
Let me know if you need parts from Canada. Saga has a ton of stuff in the warehouse, and I'd be happy to pick stuff up.

I'm on the road sending msg from cell phone pics will have to wait. I rolled the dice and tool my chances. Not a quality machine. Chain guides fell off in first few miles. Hard to start cold. Clutch problem is warped plates. Neutral light has some sort of partial short. Stays slightly dim when in gear. Does not go out. Super hard seat. Made of bamboo? Stiction in front forks significant. Plastic poor quality and brittle. Throttle sloppy. Fuel line made of fortune cookie dough. Geared silly low. Needs 1-2 more teeth on countershaft sprocket. I hope it makes the 100 mile off road ride and 75 mile ride home tomorrow. Major buyers remorse. Imagine a Lifanoid with twice the power and about the same weight. My 250 KLX would leave this behind like a horse stuck in the mud. You get what you pay for guys.

Ack. On the bright side I helped Daddy 469 out. Time will tell.... to get to battery you have to8 remove tool kit, rack, seat, and side panel. Poor engineering. Why can't they copy everything from the Japanese? Bike is on battery tendy overnight. Brought starter fluid. Will need clutch but I don't want another XY POS unit. Mabye XR clutch would work but I don't want to put money into bike.

On the bright side as long as I'm fixing this I'm an official Chinarider still. Or china bus-taker.

that sucks doc, it really does look like a nice bike.
maybe you will come across a good deal on a name brand motor and swap it in. could maybe pull off that swap for the same amount you would loose by selling it as it is...find a wrecked 450r quad and use that motor or try and find a motorcycle motor..

I am home safe. 330 miles, 115 of which was in the dirt. The bike has issues but it did get the job done. Thanks for your prayers. Brother John the trucker was a true miracle. He was hauling fertilizer to some farm in the middle of nowhere, carrying a 5 gallon jug of gas he did not need, at the moment I ran out of gas. Not a coincidence. At that point I knew God wanted the bike to make it and I stopped worrying (which we're not supposed to do anyways).

I gotta figure out how to mount an XR200 rear wheel on an XR200R. There's a bearing and axle mismatch, but I'm hopeful that Precise Bearing in Abbotsford will have a solution.
It's for Son of Weldangrind.

I think that my engine has a broken ring. Compression is low. No funds to continue for awhile.
No time to ride it.
