Greetings to the fellow China Riders!

My dad bought himself a Baja Phoenix 250 a year and a half ago. We went to go start the engine one day, and it started to gush oil out from below. I am thinking that the bike has some sort of problem with either a gasket or the oil isolating board, but I cannot tell. Is there someone in the forum who had this problem before? I am not sure who made the engine, but it definitely looks like some kind of Rebel clone. Thanks again for your help, and hope to get the bike on the road soon!

Welcome to the forum!

Road/rock damage? Pics would help. I believe the bike is a Hensiem. There are a few owners here.

Take some pics for us. Most likely is a failed gasket or possibly a loose drain plug.

I don't get it, a guy comes on this forum and asks for help and never answers the questions that are asked to help solve his problem..

Could be the storm knocked out his internet? I generally give guys like this a week

My guess is that his Dad got his bike fixed, so the lad has no intentions of coming back until another problem arises.

It's called follow up.
I think it would be polite for the OP to tell us the resolution to the problem.

I wish it were that simple.... :P

Crazy long days and nights at my work place did not help with replying to the forum. Also, I was thinking I would get notification if a thread I posted to was replied to.

When the engine is cold, the bike can be maneuvered around without any leaks. When started and allowed to idle, the leak will show after a few minutes. As the bike is taken from leaning on the kickstand to upright, the oil literally pours out from the lower section. I estimated a cup-full the last time we did this. I will try to get a picture of the lower section when I can, as the bike is 30 miles from where I am at.

Thanks again for y'all's input and take care!

Thanks for checking in. My guess is either the stator o-ring or the countershaft seal.

It could be a seal on the shift lever shaft

I had that leak on a CX500 Honda. Easy fix.

Ditto for a GS1100E

A friend of my dads bought a used China scooter that was gushing oil when started. Turned out to be a crank-case vent hose was stopped up with dirt from a dauber nest. Cleaned out the plug caused by the dirt dauber and presto, no more oil leak. :o

Thanks for mentioning that; I completely forgot about crankcase venting. Where was the oil leaking from in the case of the scooter?

Can't remember for sure. Seems like it was somewhere around the rear of the engine, near the swingarm to frame mounting point.

Angryasianguy, please reduce the size of your photos so we can view them. It's really difficult to see what you're pointing to.

Agreed. Too close up to get a perspective.

Hmmm, they look fine on my phone (using it to do this forum thing).

The first picture is an underside photo. That notch is where the left side cover connects to the engine.

The second picture shows where the oil drips down (I think from that notch) to the kickstand to the ground.

Hope this helps! Thanks again for y'alls support!

If you saw those original images on a regular monitor, you'd understand. They were huge.

You need to remove the sprocket cover for more clues. You might need to remove the exhaust pipe to gain access to the cover, but you should then reinstall the exhaust, so you can run the engine without the cover. Clean the area well and then start the engine. Take some more pics of the oil leak once you find it, and let us know.
