Hello,

Four weeks ago I bought a Baja 250 PX250.
The bike has 250 miles on it.

Everything worked fine, till now.

I plugin my key, turn the ignition - but nothing works.
The "N" control light doesn't show up - technically speeking the bike is "dead".

I don't know if it could be just the battery - the weired thign is, when ever I started the bike, I couldn't see that the battery was getting weak.

Now I assume that it may has to do something with the ignition - or the wiring of the electric.

Is there any way, how I could try to start the bike ?

I also didn't want to start the bike by pushing it, or rolling down a hill.... because I don't know if it would cause any damage on the bike, since the ignition is not turned on.

Start with the fuse.

Check the fuse. Then next I would put you digital multimeter to the bad to check for at least 12.5volts. (A digital multimeter is a required chinarider tool.) $4 at harbor freight.

Yep, check the main fuse and then the battery. You could try to jump start it by cabling up a good battery, should not hurt anything.

Thank you so much for all your help !

I checked the fuse and also the battery. Both was fine.
But after taking a closer look to the cables that re connected to the battery, I figured out that one end of the cable was not wired anymore.

I can not really explain why that happened, but I tried to fix it, and yeah... i am so happy now the power is back, and I couold run my bike immediately.

Thank yu so much for yur comments !

One more thing I would like to ask:
Does anybody know if there are local Service Stations who would make all kind of repairs ?

If I will run into any other issue, it would be really good to know someone around who also could make a service, or repair some major things.

I was driving to a few different dealers with a service station - but more or less, everyone kicked me out, with a very infriendly comment about my china bike.

Well, so I realized ... When ever I should have a problem with my bike, which I can not handle by myself - where to go ?

Would be so great to know what you think about this ?

Oh yeah, I am in Dallas, TX.

And one more thing:
I would love to learn more about motorcycles, so Basucally.. I want to know all what a master mechanic does know - but where can I learn all those things ?

I was looking for some online tutorials, but could not find anything.

Thank you so much for every little help !

Some people are rude to Chinariders. Mostly we do our own work.

In a way I understand a shop not wanting to work on CB's, but there is no need to be rude.

Here's the best (and free) on-line tutorial. Read this and you'll know quite a bit about bikes. And God. :P

FD,
Nice site' I'll have to spend some time there.

brox,
Glad to hear you fixed your bike. Hang around here and you will find that we do our own service/repair work and are always helping each other out.

Do you have a friend that is knowledge about bikes? If not then how about a class at your public school system? The class could be about small engine repair to get you started.

Thank you very much for your posts, highly appreciated!

Cool idea with the classes - I need to check out if I can find something in my area. Do you know what's usually the name of such classes ?

I mean... is it just named with something like motorcycle mechanic classes ?

Thx a lot & till later

I want to piggy back on here a bit. I was told on my other thread that I could get a CDI from Mo and I talked to him and ordered one and put it in and have the same issue as the last one I bought for 25 percent of the price. The original works, but cuts out a bit when it gets hot outside, so I now have the new one in, it fits, but only fires on one cylinder just like the last on. I think they are sending me one for a 250 single cylinder and mine is just like the one in this thread. Any one got a clue what I can do.

There's a clue from CDi maker http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sanxin.com.cn%2FExhibit%2Fexhvi ew.asp%3Fpid%3D13 check the pick up gap
2 -cylinder CDi had a larger cap (2.2 uf) which some 1-cylinder CDI may work OK

Sanxin is the "de facto" choice for big player .
Those AC-CDI becames "odd" (it will F...s as the above "inside the box" URL) , nobody wants it on new bike anymore. The NEW bike from regal raptor is using DC-CDI.
Find agent for a fee / "pals" from mychinamoto.com then ships it directly to u isn't that hard. Chinese ebay seller had these unbetable rate  http://shipping.ebay.cn/express/e-packet/2684.html | Used Rebel CDI also works prefect .

I don't had enough "points" to read that post, but Google cache did some rescue , just click "Annex" for image.
