Praise God! Sounds like the best possible outcome under the circumstances.

well he sleeps on her couch because he doesn't have his own room up there (kids need their own space) and we are just about done with setting up his room.
and he will not be yelled at, belittled or have religion crammed down his gullet (not knocking you that have found god but i do not beleive nore do i think it should be crammed into a kid)

he likes 4x4ing, quadding and food so he should fit right in here lol

Excellent news!

The young lad is always welcome to tag along with us to church. I'd never cram religion into him.

It really sounds like he's gonna have a great time with you. I look forward to meeting him at Nickelmine. :D

thanks guys I am sure we can make things work here....as far as going to church....if he says he wants to go then I will make arrangements for him but only if he asks.

I think nicklemine is the first place we will take him for starters.

I'm glad your son is coming to live with you, since you obviously want him around, and his mother doesn't. ;) I also think your son might enjoy going to church with Weldangrind. :)

guys please do not push religion around me (i can get in a right nasty mood) like i said ..."if" he asks to go then i will arraign it for him but if he doesn't ask then I am not mentioning it.

his mother did a 180 from what we were to religion and tries to force it on everyone around her ....this is what pushed my 12 (now 14) year old step son out of her house to live with his grandmother and now i think it has taken it's toll on the 8 yr old.

I do not disrespect anyone that has found religion I am a man of science and have been that way since i was 12 and nothing anyone can say will ever change my mind. This almost got me kicked out of scouting many yrs ago and I had to write to the governor general (the chief scout of Canada) and plead my case to get written permission to be a scout without religion and I achieved the highest award that a scout can get and all done without being involved in religion.

I'm sorry if I offended you, MidLife. We're not "pushing religion," and respect your decisions regarding the raising of your son. ;) However, you first raised the subject. I merely stated I believe your son would enjoy going to church with Weldangrind. :)

I'm sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience with scouting, Midlife. :( I also consider myself "a man of science," but have reached the opposite conclusion from you. Nevertheless, I certainly respect your beliefs, and would certainly never force you to believe otherwise. ;)

wasn't unpleasent more of a .....another hurdle in life that I (as a 13 yr old) had to jump and I set presidence for future kids that want to be scouts without having to worship a god.

I think maybe i jumped the gun here and I am sorry if i offended anyone as well.

I'm certainly not offended, and I'm sorry if I ground your gears too much. I meant it when I said that I'd never cram religion into him.

I'm big on science too. I have a need to measure, quantify, prove or disprove just about anything. I just reached a point in my life where I found something to be true that didn't require proof. The position I've taken is to share what I can about it if someone asks me. I'm not shy about my faith, but I'd never push it on anyone.

I think it's really cool that you took your case right to the Scout Governor General at 13. I totally defend your right to your personal choices.

Congrats midlife! Wow....an 8 year old again. I couldn't even imagine!
As my dad said, "Kids.....ya gotta love 'em but it's a Young Man's sport!"
Good luck and I know it's definitely the right thing for him!....and also, let's not forget to give credit to your current 'better half'. She has to be some wonderful woman to say, "Yah...let's cancel our vacation, Honey. This is far more important."
You got a keeper, it sounds like to me! :D

heh heh ya i have had her since she was 5 weeks old and she is 9 now.... she became aware of kenny before he was born(very smart dog) and she has always been a friend for him and protector (went after a cougar once) over the past 9 yrs (with exception of the last 2). every trick I have taught her with exception of a couple she will do for him as well although she doesn't like or want to do some of them now.
