You can remove the cable mechanism from the stock...

You can remove the cable mechanism from the stock carb and put it on the new one. Takes a little fiddling with it put it's easily doable. I wanted the handle bar choke lever to remain functional....

I stripped the threads on my tbr7 and I used a S.O. (single oversize) M12x1.5 to fix it. Then flushed any small shavings out with some used oil and filled it back up. Maybe not the best method but...
