Thanks to all. With the help from Tortise and sending me to Scrappy Dog Scooters.com I was able to get the correct ignition coil. The little beast fired right up with the new coil and stator.

The only thing I can think of is someone inserted...

The only thing I can think of is someone inserted a screwdriver for leverage to get the nut off.

I tried a conventional coil like this to no avail. I think because the bike doesn't have a CDI. ????
