Templar X Taillight Replacement help.

Hey guys. The taillight on my Templar X came with a short. And the brake light doesn’t work. And theres really no way to get into it without breaking it. I requested one from Powersportsmax on the 24th of November. But so far I haven’t received anything more than a “sent to warehouse” message. I’m sure the darn thing is probably cheap. But the one I have doesn’t have a part number or anything for that matter on it. They don’t have any listed on the Powersportsmax site. There are some on Amazon and EBay that look like it. But I’m not sure if they fit. None that I’ve looked at had a measurement on the bolt studs. Any of you guys have any info on one available to order anywhere? I’ve included pictures. Thanks.

Looks like two plastic parts that push in with tabs and lock together?

Try running a credit card or similar thin piece of plastic down the edges and see if you can feel anything that might be the location of the lock tabs. Gentle spudging with a spudger might get it apart. (you are replacing it, so might as well try a go at getting the old one open).

I tried to open it a little last night. But I swear I think it’s glued. They’re supposed to be water proof. But I think they went the extra mile on this one. I did see what the problem was. The brake light wire pulled out of the light housing. Before I got it mounted. It dangled from the wires for a while during assembly. That’s probably when it happened. So it was probably my fault. For everyone else out there. Don’t let it dangle by the wires! Luckily they are cheap if I do have to buy one.

How about a hot knife or careful cut at the back near the opaque black. I mean you could always glue the two plastic pieces back together and back closer to the black you wouldn't really be interfering with any parts the light comes out of during use.

Good idea. I’ll try that when I home. Thanks TP!

Soon as I get home this evening I’ll post a video. I wired it so the blinkers in the new taillight flash with the blinkers on the bike. All I did was tie the left and right blinker wires from the taillight to the L&R blinker wires coming off the bike blinkers. And plugged them both into the wire coming from the switch. Each side flashes simultaneously.

Yep finally got this taillight deal sorted out! Here’s a video of the one I got on Amazon with the blinkers in the taillight. I just wired them to the blinker’s already on the bike.
