I bought a Shorai, LXF09A2 battery for my XR650L, Stew. With a rating of 9 Ah, and 135 ccA, it was more powerful than the stock battery I replaced. In addition, the Shorai battery weighed about 5 pounds less than the stock battery. 8O Since it is so small, I relocated the Shorai battery on top of my Honda's air box, and completely removed the battery box, shedding 9 pounds from my XR650L. I paid $100, delivered, for the Shorai battery. I replaced my Zong's lead-acid battery last year for $84, delivered. The Shorai batteries are an exceptional value; I highly recommend them.

Thanks Spud, this is definitely the route I will look into when my battery starts giving me grief... I had been looking at the Deka sealed batteries but these Shorai's sound like a better deal, I thought they were a lot more expensive than that . I am trying to be diligent on my battery maintenance as I was only getting 2 years out of a battery... I now bring them inside in the fall and trickle them occasionally with a battery maintainer. Again, thanks for the info!

Cheers,
Stew

You're welcome, Stew. The Shorai batteries are the "cat's pajamas," and the "bee's knees!" My Shorai battery only weighs 1.2 pounds, and it cranks my 650cc engine effortlessly! I love this battery. I'm going to start a new thread on the Shorai batteries, and post it in the Dual Sport forum.

all this talk of batterys has got me inspired. I just made $16 in purchases to start building one of these types of battery's to save some space and weight on the lifonda.

Yea I have been thinking of doing that also, some of the ebay vendors will do the welding for a small fee and all youd have to do is wrap it and solder on some wire connectors.

for $16 you must be doing a 4 cell?
