engine looks very small and not like the 200 GY

specs say 20HP max output 8O

I have that bike. I'm pretty sure its a crf 230f clone. Good bike so far. I believe it goes by the name Apollo 36.

It does look a lot like CRF230 design.

iTrack, keep us posted. they sell the engine here and i think i might put in my xl, which lacks a bit of power.

does anyone know whether this motor fits the mounts of a honda xl 185s? i know the lifan 200 engine does, but is that one based on the crf 230 as well?

5 speed and 230 cc sound good to the xl frame. and it ll be genuine china.

Genuine China indeed!

Yes, I believe that the mounts will be in the same locations and the 185. I found that the upper rear mount was a little wide for the Honda frame, but I quickly resolved that with a cutting disc and a die grinder.
