yep 3000 ft elevation change in first gear was a little too much for it. 8O

Was it OK? Did it just need a rest?

It was fine after a 15 min break. Though this isn't the first time this has happened, makes me want to switch to a two stroke

What about those fancy antifreezes? They are supposed to cool the bike quite a bit better?

Roger's KX used to boil over but with Starcool (or whatever I don't remember the brand) it has not happened since.

I also like 2 strokes for many reasons but when the going gets loose or slippery or steep (where I am most of the time...) I like that 4 stroke controlability and traction.

Im not 100% positive but I think the bike had engine ice in It when I bought it, and the coolant was definitely purple, I think I lost alot of it on that ride though so im going to try normal antifreeze when I fill it back up

Nothing beats the latent heat of vapourization of water. I can't see how snake oil can pull the heat out any better. Water can absorb in the neighbourhood of 900 BTU's without changing temperature.

Turns out my new 380 two stroke can do it too, without even taking cool down breaks

I think 2 smokes tend to run cooler. I think the fuel mixture cools them as well.
