Yakima River
Roger and I had a beautiful ride yesterday, part of which was along a trail by the Yakima River.

Retro.
They are so far gone I resolved to throw them away after this ride. Problem is I'm such a cheap bastard it's hard to throw something away I've already paid for...

Where do you live now?
The Southeast Washington Desert is a good place to ride dualsport. I am fortunate to live here. Check back in January though and see how I feel. I'll be bitching to go back to my California Homeland.

I live in the middle of Missouri. I am a Student at The University of Missouri. My home town has some nice areas to ride at but I need to work on getting there when I am not swamped with school.

School is more important now...
I sacrificed decades and hundreds of thousands of dollars to get to where I am professionally. Worth every moment and every penny. The good news is riding is an inexpensive hobby.

Yea thats the plan... to have this time spent on school be worth it. Hopefully I will be going to Law School.
And yes it is an inexpensive hobby once started compared to some others, but still not cheap lol. |

When I was in school I always had a bike. Sometimes did not have a (decent) car but always had a bike.
Made for some cold miserable mornings in NJ... Cold builds character. Just ask Ernest Shakleton.

HAHA yea I am learning to ride in the cold more because of gas prices. My car isn't the greatest on MPG so we will see how this winter goes on the bike

It looks like it was a great day. Doc, would you have many opportunities for such rides in Cali?

Good question. The answer is it depends.
California is so big. If I lived somewhere urban, which I would never do, not so much. Although when I lived near san Francisco there were a few good riding areas within 75 miles but little right there, and certainly non right out the door. Hollister was the best. In San Luis Obisbo County, where I plan to move, there is a decent amount of National Forest to ride, and of course Pismo Beach with it's world famous sand dunes. The unlimited Mojave desert would be fairly close as well. If I moved to the desert per se, I could find a place with BLM land outside the door. These areas are not very attractive though. The fact is though for now it's all a dream. :? I've moved to much and have established poor roots. This is bad for the heart and the bank book. I would be wise to remain where I am as I am prosperous in friends and opportunity. I am well loved here and fit in. Still I long for my 'Homeland'.
