It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel, for two reasons:

1. It won't idle without the choke.
2. It backfires.

Try a larger slow jet. If you can't find one, buy a Mikuni and stick a larger slow jet in it.

Like I said, try a new slow jet. The one you have is too small, IMO.

Read page four, and it will be clearer: http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...r=asc&start=45

With your stock carb, I don't know where you can find slow jets or main jets. With a 30mm Mikuni, you can find them at your local Yamaha dealer.

Our Chinese friends do the rough-in with these machines, leaving it up to us to do the details. That's what we get for such a low price.

Again, I don't know about your carb. Just buy a Mikuni.

On your existing carb? No idea, but probably not.

Yea boss the guys are dead on. Ya see the stock carbs they put in arent designed for performance merely jus basic putting around pleasure. Sodrop the mikuni 30 mm on an even with stock sized slow an mains youll notice better performance. Once you get bord with the gain get upsized slow an mains an keep bumpin thefun. Out of trial and error iv found the mikuni is the most reliable easy to tune an upgrade carb possible. Itll take watever you throw at it.
