Not yet. Need to tune the PMS a tad richer. Maybe 1/4 or 1/2 turns richer.

I agree. When you have time, please post an update and tell us how well the engine is now running.

Thanks for the update. Did they change the main jet? What size was the original? What size did they install?

I did not asked the exact size. But if not mistaken it went a size bigger on the main. And yes. Changed the main jet.

My motorcycle refused to start after only 255km in less than a week (6 days) after getting it from the dealer.
Local mechanic said that it is probably the carburetor, and from the postings here, I'm SURE it is the carb. But they don't dare to retune it, because the bike is still under warranty. But when I call the dealer, they said that they don't have any mechanics capable of tuning the carb, and they are willing to pay whatever my local mechanic will charge to tune the carb. The only things that my local mechanic did were cleaning the carb (apparently one of the jets was clogged), and add a fuel filter that sits between the-thing-that-you-turn-for-reserve-fuel, and the carburetor itself. Costs me a dollar. Any advice on what should I do next? Also, is it normal for dust to be in the carb like this? Fuel filter attached. The left-most thingie was the one which clogged. |

Lawas, Sarawak. Some 200km from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I bought the bike from Tropicana Motorworld KK, of which HQ is in Johor Bahru.
They said that for Borneo, only Kuching Branch has the mechanic capable of doing the carb thingie. Which is 1000km away from here. Suddenly Iron Butt Challenge comes to mind... |

That's just debris in the bowl from not having a filter. No big deal, once it's cleaned out.
After cleaning the jets and adding a filter, did it start?

From what they said, there is not enough fuel going into the chamber. Upon hearing that, and after reading FTEY's posts about changing the main jet one size up, I think it is the same problem. They now said that they don't have the tools to perform the carb operation (I figure they don't have the flexible screwdriver thingie like FTEY/SpudRider mentioned). And the dealer don't have the mechanic capable of doing that in the radius of 900km around from where I live. I'm screwed, ain't I? |
