Check with Excalibur to make sure, but it sounds like a slightly longer drive chain will work.

sounds like you need a brakeline that fits. does it still rub on the swing arm? maybe you need a tire of lesser width.

Indeed, you probably need a longer, rear brake line. I hadn't thought of that.

It's not the width that's the issue it's rubbing at the front of the swingarm where the shock is. Some photos for reference:

I was thinking that maybe going to a 48 rear sprocket would free up enough space for this. What kind of clearance should there be between the tire and the swing arm? I would like to make this work but I would also like to have the option to just throw on the street tires with minimal effort.

if it clears the swingarm w/out chain and brakeline, u just modify those. smaller sprocket an option, but for offroading not so useful. better to get an even bigger rear sprocket and chain to match, keeping the other one for the street setup, with some spare master links.

As long as the tire turns without hitting the front of the swingarm, you are fine. The knobs will start wearing away the moment you start riding on them, and that will increase the clearance.

Excalibur confirmed that the chain is different on the off-road. Wish I knew that when I ordered the tires so I could have just picked it up then. Alan also said that he thinks the rear breaks are different but interchangeable. Still waiting on clarification on that one. I did tell him that the rear break line looked a little short. Hope to have more information today.

If he has a brake hose that's a little loinger, I presume it would suit both tire sizes.

Was told that the break like is standard on both models so I just ordered the longer chain from him. Will update whenever I get that (should be in about a week).

Well...I've come to the realization that this is just not enough bike for me and I have the itch to get something a bit more substantial so....the TMEC is going up for sale. I've placed it on my local craigslist to see if I get any bites. If there is anyone in the NYC area that has any interest in buying it just shoot me a PM. I barely put 150 miles on it and have both the on and off road tires with it. Great bike...but I got the itch for something more. Thanks to all here for the great information and community.

Sorry to read that we are losing a 'TMEC army' member, but it is understandable why! I wish I lived closer because I would love to have both sets of wheels. Oh well. Whoever buys it will get use out of the bike--steer them this way!

Boy....selling a china bike is turning into quite a chore. I know it would be tough when I made the purchase but I had no idea there was that much hatred for china bikes.
