Hello, from Illinois
Hi, brian here from central illinois ... just ordered myself a DB type 08, wont get it for a while still, then it will be a full strip down (other than motor being opened), then a build up with loctite everywhere and lock washers (where needed) ... i will try to remember the pics as i go, as i here it is required by CR.net (haha) ... till then i will keep reading and biting my nails in hopes that i have made a good choice ... i have been reading a ton of bad things about chinese bikes, but have noticed they were all 8 to 10 years old and not seeing much at all about new bikes, so i took that as a good sign ... and dropped some cash on my first new anything with a motor at the age of 42 ... wish me luck

Welcome to here! Eight to 10 years ago, even with this site, there was no one who really knew much about these. Ironically, back then, the engines were thought to be the worst part of these things; now, we know they are the best thing! Still, not much for internal modifying, but externally, with an exhaust, a new Ebay Mikuni carb, sprockets (if desired), air filter, and you have it as good as it gets! As you stated, locktite and/or change bolts is very good advice, and you have a decent street or trail bike, or both! Just don't jump it...

Welcome. Sounds like you have a plan to build it right. Lube all the cables also.

Hey Brian! Thanks for joining us.
My China bike is old, and it serves me well.

Charleston Illinois area here ...... Are you going to license and register it? I called the SOS office and the dullard bureaucrat I talked to acted like I was speaking mandarin Chinese. I could not get an straight up yes or no answer on getting the bike registered.
