I can get it into neutral if it's rolling quickly to a stop, but not while it's idling stopped at a light without shutting it off. My idle is currently is only slightly higher than it should be, but I haven't really had the motivation to dial in the carb and set the idle properly.
Blip the throttle makes it a lot easier to go to neutral, and even better from 2nd to neutral.

Thanks for the help everyone. I took I to consideration all of your great ideas. The problem is now fixed! I just cleaned/lubed my chain and did an oil chang, then everything ran perfectly. I always tightened the clutch cable down near the engine as well thanks again, you guys rock

Make sure you've got enough oil in the engine. That can really help to change gears smoothly.

Thanks! And blackbike you are totally right...I went on a fun little ride today with my buddy who has a drz400 ..blew me out of the water but I still love my Chinese demon haha I am gonna have her well kept and running as smoothly as possible . I put one quart of oil in it...it still does not seem all the way full so I might add a bit more.

My lifan would start to get hard to shift after about 800 miles on an oil change. Fresh rotella and it was ready to go again.
