2016 Haosen Blizzard ATV Build & Break-in
Hey All, finally pulled the trigger on buying, bought a 2016 Haosen Blizzard 150cc ATV, so thought I'd post pics and info on the build and break-in. Bought the quad through TXPowersports and it was shipped from the RPS warehouse.
Shipping was fast in my opinion. I ordered on Wednesday at 7AM, and by the following Tuesday, at 10AM it was at my house, sitting in my garage. From TX to CT in less than 5 business days is moving right along. From the shipping updates, from Estes, which were great, they did drive on a Sunday. CRATE PICS:

Build:
I used a combination of the videos on the RPS website and past experience wrenching on ATVs and cars to assemble the Blizzard. I wish there would have been a one page instruction sheet, like IKEA, to build, but it was pretty intuitive. First, I attached the handlebars and wheels, after inflating tires. Partially so I could sit on it with the kids. I followed the instructions in the manual to add the electrolyte to the battery and charged it (overnight). Then I attached all the other components, bumpers and plastic. That was all there was to it. A few items that were missing or damaged: - rear tire gouged from rubbing against metal crate during shipping - missing 2 front wheel nuts - missing bolt to front plastic - several scratches and scrapes to paint on frame - rear lower bumper was bent from shipping. Not a big deal, $5 for parts/supplies at Tractor Supply. We also upgraded the fuel line, including shutoff and filter, before and after pics below. BUILD PICS:

Break-in:
I went a little cautious on the break-in because I want this machine to last me several years. (Read overkill or anal....) My buddy pistolclass pokes a little fun at me for it. We performed the following break-in mods and procedures: - replace with NGK sparkplug - drain existing oil, replace with Royal Purple Break-in oil - attach nuts and bolts with loctite - do not throttle above half throttle - run engine through 3 heat cycles, check first few ounces with paper filter to look for metal A heat cycle is when you bring the engine up to temperature, then let it fully cool down to room temperature. For us, this ended up being run for 10 min, then cool down for about an hour until I could touch the engine. Yes, a bit cautious, but some engineers/engine builders say that this allows the engine to seat the rings the best and prevents glazing of the rings and other engine components. I will run the break-in oil until 10 hours of use, then change the oil, and run normally afterwards. At which time I'll post an update. Hope this helps some with a tutorial of a careful break-in. Nice looking quad! I've been curious to see one of these quads. Haosen, what was Hensim, should be a very nicely built unit!

Thanks! It looks to be well built, decent welds, good sized frame. I'll post a review after I wind it out at full speed a few times. So far no complaints, other than the minor shipping items I mentioned below.

Sharp quad.
I noticed that it uses a scooter fuel pump, rather than a petcock. Scooters don't have convenient access to the fuel line, so the pump runs off of vacuum. When they fail, you get no fuel flow. You could swap out that system for a simple PW80 petcock, since it has the correct inlet / outlet sizes and a mounting lug. It's a $7.00 solution. Ill post this in case anyone else is doing assembly, the one issue we've had on this unit thus far is that some of the floats are stuck - can be unstuck just be tapping it. We suspect the ship hit some bad weather and things got jarred around.

Hard to tell from the angle but is there some sort of filter on the front left side engine cover? Mine has one that looks like this. I understand they are needed but can clog easy.

It's an air intake for the cooling fan on the CVT. The filter just keeps larger stuff out. I swapped mine for a piece of bulk Uni foam.
