starter not working(hawk 250)
Brand new hawk 250
I filled up the battery and charged it up. The neutral light came on and it turned over a few times. then suddenly it started beeping and then it died like it lost all power. I am pretty sure I hit the blinker when it died. I hooked up a load(air mattress pump) to the battery and it ran it fine. I then took a known good battery and hooked it up and saw the same result. I followed wiring and found a small fuse near the battery that had popped. there was a replacement in the holder so I replaced it and now I have dashboard and lights but still the starter doesn't turn over or anything. I only put in a gallon of gas but I didn't think that would make a difference. Any ideas? I tried kick starting it but that didn't work it turns over and seems like its trying to start but doesn't |

Got it to kick start with 1/4 throttle. Off to find the idle adjustment screw since I am guessing the idle is low.

yeah I saw the solenoid there. It was my first thought but I can't find my multi-meter. I need to go buy a multi-meter since it's easier than finding where mine is

ha I didn't even think to just complete the circuit
Bike started right up no problem. I got the following off of the starter solenoid 150724Q343 but it doesn't come up with anything on google. Does anyone know the part number? |

Ppl from developing country don't fall into that kind of scam. Focus on the function & shape, something will works...
=== For example: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=38680667490 Generic 150A starter solenoid had 2 yrs warranty by parts house...

I would start by pulling the head light back off and check all the connectors for bent pins(mine had one) and loose plugs.

Bruce is right, the problem isn't necessarily the solenoid. Test to see if the solenoid is getting power to actuate it when you press the starter switch.

You can run a hot wire from the battery to the start side of the solenoid to test it. Their is a green yellow & yellow red, Not sure which is which though and can't check right now....

If you need parts. Cheap and shipping is pretty quick.

While I was waiting for my friend and his multimeter I took the bike for a spin. It popped a fuse. I think it's the blinker. I noticed it comes on but doesn't blink and both times the fuse popped I was using the blinker.
I also noticed the brake light does not come on when the front or back brakes are applied. ok solenoid was not the issue it was the switch. I had no continuity at the harness behind the headlight. I disassembled it and then it worked. I fiddled with it but no matter what position it worked fine. I put it back in and so far it is working. Any ideas on the blinker/brake light? It got dark so figured I would ask before I go back at it tomorrow. |
