Hawk forks
Hi everyone just got about 700 miles on the hawk and I changed my for oil had 150 ml in each tube. I noticed when I put the new oil in it sounds like it was still low when you pump the for tube it suck ing air sound so I put 200 ml in the I will let you guys no how it rides also the steering stem nuts where lose like finger tight so check them makes it kinda scary on gravel roads

Thanks for the info, Slim. I asked which oil and how much a while back and never got a response. Which oil did you use and do you think it is thick enough?

I used belay 10 w fork oil you just need one bottle I'll let you no after I test it how it dose but 200 ml seems good

Did you remove the forks, or, can you drain it out of the bottom. Last time I did forks it was in 1982 on a YZ125. Never had the need on any bike since then.

I took them off and did it from the top and pump them just pull the spring and go at it

Be sure to use the correct size hex key, if you strip that fastener it would be difficult to get it out. |

I thought that bolt on the bottom was good for something. Didn't have one on my YZ, or at least I don't remember one.
Oil is changed out and has enough now. What came out looked like motor oil. Feels like it should now. |

What size is the stem nut? I guestimate 30mm but want a socket on hand before I remove the handlebars to gain access to it.

So, a general question... How do you know if the fork oil needs to be changed? What are the symptoms, etc.?
