Only 7 hours logged on the new ATV and I have a major problem with the transmission. The final gear to the chain drive, inside the transmission, is clicking and whining loudly. Tomorrow AM Dad (a Mechanical Engineer) and I will start pulling it apart. Will post pics and a full report. And I will be letting Adam Reinkliff know what the defect is.

8 years ago I bought my then 10 year old son a 110 Hensim 4wheeler. The first summer for that machine was rough with failures and what seemed like near constant wrenching - - but ..... that machine settled in and was bulletproof afterwards and more than a match for any "name brand" wheeler sitting in expensive showrooms. That machine is now on its' 3rd kid and running strong.... so don't give up - be patient and keep wrenching!

Keep us posted and take pics please. Hopefully WeldanGrind will chime in. I think he has lots of GY6 experience.

Did you happen to check the gear oil level? I'd recommend that you drain the goo out of it, and fill it with Castrol Syntec 75W90.

Update on problems: we found the culprits, turned out to be two issues. One, the chain sprockets are out of alignment by 1/4in. Two, the wrong size washer was used on the inside of the front sprocket, causing galling.

We spun the axle in the rear of the transmission, no problem. However, it did incur some minor damage. Some fine grit sandpaper polished it up.

Not sure why the front and rear sprockets are out of alignment, if it was due to damage in shipping or not manufactured in alignment. In the pictures you can see a straightedge from the rear sprocket to the front sprocket, out of alignment by 1/4in.

The wrong washers are pretty obvious. The galling happened when the wrong size washer was used, too small, and it sloshed around inside the back of the front sprocket, rounding the washer and digging a small groove into the sprocket. In the pictures you can see the original washer and the new washer; the original washer is too small for the back of the sprocket, and the new washer fits over the outside of the sprocket.

So the washer issue on the front sprocket is fixed for fifty cents. Not sure what we'll do about the chain sprocket alignment issue. We may try to shim. The large chain takes up the slack and the machine runs fine.

I will be in touch with Adam Rinkleff about the Hensim assembling issues.

Chain

Hello... this setup is like a lot of the Chinese atv.s that use the gy6 motor.. for the rear chain to line up... just remove the rear gear.. install some washers to move the gear over.. so them it will line up.. please check your rear axle alignment to the front. before you do any changes.. it should be the same axle spread on both side.. this helps the chain alignment and keeps it on. once I had a rear swingarm on a GIO BEAST welded wrong and was crooked so I could not get the chain straight....
