My procrastination has got me. Dropped the transmission off at the community college. It will be rebuilt in October when they get to that part of the program.

You must have recently learned that skill. You don't come by procrastination naturally.

I pulled it out in May. Had big plans to rebuild it myself. Realized that school was starting again and I had a contact at the community college that needed a project.

That's a good solution, although not likely a quick one. I presume that you have the time to wait.

It has been waiting 6 months already. A couple more won't hurt.

Update. Transmission is about a week from completion. They want the truck end of this week or first of next for installation. That means I need to get it tagged and insured. This truck qualifies as an antique in Kansas so I get a cheap tag and hopefully low cost insurance due to occasional use.

Nice project. As for the AOD transmissions....lets just say stay firmly away from them if you want a reliable transmission. Almost every time i see AOD and Ford in the same breath..it is usually in the form of "Goddamn AOD F***ing died again!" More often then not those who had the AODs in the fords that could usually swapped to a C4 or C6 soon after it gave up the ghost. I made it a point to firmly avoid automatics when i was looking for a Ranger. Ended up with one with the Mazda 5 speed..though i have since gotten rid of that truck too..back to full on GM in the truck side of things lol

I am having the rebuild the stock C4 transmission for the truck. I have $150 invested in the transmission now.

Thinking it will take a couple hundred more to get the truck on the road. Carb kit, new plugs and wires, check the brakes.

I have already replaced the tires.

F150 loaded on the trailer and ready to dropped off for its new transmission. Wished I had a bigger trailer now.
