Hawk CDI upgrade question

Has anyone done a CDI upgrade on the Hawk 250 and if so what CDI unit did you get? Also was it plug and play or did you have to do some wiring reconfiguration?

I was looking into that too. Most of the name brand companies are to expensive and I don`t think that they make a model for our Chinese bikes. I did see one for a Chinese moped/scooter and it was fairly cheap. Keep us posted if you find something that works.

Some people have tried but it didn't work out.

Yeah, I remember reading that not only is the timing retarded too far in those cheaper units for easy starting, but it's benefits are barely worth the trouble of installing it. Trouble is (I think) that it's not variable. What I mean is, your timing needs to change at different rpm for maximum performance, but these cheap chi units can't physically do it and even if they could, they're not adjustable

Here's a link to the cdi unit that I was looking at:

https://www.vmcchineseparts.com/coll...nce-version-43

I haven't looked to see what plug configuration our Hawks have.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

A programmable CDI will be the best one to get if you can get one. I've been trying to get this one but having a hard time getting any information on availability or cost. http://www.dansgaragetalk.com/topic/...-time-mapping/

Additional Info- I found where to buy the programmable CDI for under $85. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Digi...e-dc34455d668e

The CDI that JerryHawk250 was looking at is a better unit. The one I was looking at is more like an MSD Ignition box.

The programmable CDI would be the best way to go. I'm holding off on buying this one because I'm planning on doing the EFI system later on after the summer which already is programmable. You basically copy and burn the information from your stock cdi and adjust timing from there.

Edit: will not work. DC CDI. Hawk requires AC CDI

Efi

JerryHawk250...tell us about this EFI you speak of! This isn't one of those EFI systems that cost more than the Hawk itself is it?

Having trouble finding brozz upgrades

Hello all I'm trying to find some info on upgrading my 2016 brozz. the carb, rear drum, a battery (mine won't hold a charge) and also an exhaust with a new header. My bike currently has 560 miles and climbing. No issues so far with the bike, although I've had to adjust the valves about 4 times and the battery not working.

Hey JerryHawk250,

When you start your EFI conversion, you will have to start a new thread/post...with lots of pictures! You should start the thread/post when you place the order.

If you do the EFI conversion then turbo should be doable.
