Twisted off head CDI case

Read the Hawk valve thread and got worried so went to check my valves first thing this morning. The head to this bolt snapped off and left the rest stuck and floating around in the hole. I tried pulling every bolt to the entire case to see if I could get the bolt out from the inside but it won’t budge. I’m assuming running the motor w/o that top seal will ruin it so it’s a downed bike ugh.

The same plug is used on numerous Honda engines so a replacement should be easy enough to get. In the mean time a cork could be used to plug the hole. There isn't any pressure in there so even a piece of heat resistant tape would work.

I pulled the entire case and the damaged bolt came out on its own. Looks like I went too far and the plug cap wasn’t tough enough to stop and just shattered. The 1.5 inch parts store oil plug fits. The shortest one I could find is too long I believe so I added a metal washer, the nylon washer it came with and an extra O ring along with the original. I cranked it down to what felt appropriate, replaced the 1.5 quart of oil lost and put about 5 miles on it.

Wow! All that mess and trouble just checking valve clearance. I’ll check the Honda place out see if they can find a proper one or does anyone know the part number to order one off amazon or wherever?

Motorcycle!
