New Hawk build was a homerun on first crank but I have a few tips

I got all my parts from hawk250.com as a reference as what to buy but! Im having to use the stock shock, shifter, and chain. The chain listed on the site does not fit at all. The shock needs proper spacers and the shifter will not work on the hawk because its square it attaches to the bike. You need a shifter that is round on that end.

I really think this needs to be added to a resource post or something.

Why in earth would you like a folding shifter?!

A 520 chain should work though... or is it too short?

Spacers on a shock isn't that uncommon, some swingarms are placed asymetrical under the frame of some bikes so some spacing is needed then.

Because it won't bend when you fall. The stock shifter is cheap and the bend. The chain links are simply to big for the teeth. They don't line up at all. You would never get the front sprocket cover on even if you sorted that out somehow.

Megdan runs a 520 chain. I believe he had to buy different sprockets that would fit the chain though. But a 520 should offer more strength than a 428.

You need 520 sprockets to run a 520 chain. Stock sprockets (and most JT replacements people use) are 428.

520 chain and sprocket info IS in my resource guide. Yes, I do run a 520 chain and sprocket setup on my bike.

I didnt include the shifter or shock due to personal preferences. There are a bunch of options out there. It has also been beaten to death that the information is easy to find.

Maybe I will include it more down the road.
