Hawk Crash -

I have been riding since I was about 13 and only had one other crash - both times on dirt roads with ruts or soft gravel. My last one was last night around 8:45 I was cruising a road that sort of skirts the top of a mtn near us, I don’t mind riding at night but it was a bit chilly last night, about 45-50F maybe cooler where I was up on the mtn. I was riding along at 35-45 and had just reduced speed for an upcoming curve. Suddenly I saw eyes and a deer coming out of the trees, so I swerved at maybe 30 while braking and the soft gravel and really soft front forks just sent the bike over. Scraped up helmet, some gravel rash through my pants and jacket and a pulled calf so I was lucky. The bike did ok but I notice the front wheel is off about .75 -1.5” from the headlight center and handle bars , I assume my forks are bent. To add insult to injury I was in a pretty remote area and when I lifted the bike back up I noticed in the headlight a trailcam setup pointing at the road. Someone probably saw my idiocy The off center wheel made the 8 mile ride home very slow and scary

If the forks are bent , I can’t believe the tree would be bent ? - any recommendations on replacements ? I feel like they are way too soft and make the bike squirrelly at times , especially on dirt.

Glad you're here to tell about it. Wait, the sourness will kick in later. Ask me how I know. lol
As far as the Forks. Check with Jeff with Peace Sports Atlanta. The forks on the standard Brozz may be the same. He can check measurements for you. Parts are available on his website. https://shop.brozz250.com/eshopprod_...Suspension.htm

Do the fork brace mod. It will stiffen up the front end.

Forks may not be bent. Loosen ft axle nut, tripple.clamp bolts, etc., then twist the wheel straight and tighten everything.

Both times I laid my Hawk down the wheel got tweaked a little off center. I didn't even have to loosen anything up, just put wheel between your knees to hold it and crank the handlebars in the direction it needs to go.

Learned that in the very early '80's riding XRs, YZs, and Can Ams (which were labeled as widow makers because the motor far exceeded the brakes and suspension). And bikes back in the day were slightly more bulletproof than these China bikes.

Get you a 1980 copy of Cycle World magazine testing the big bore Husqvarna and you'll know where we came from and how far we've gotten. Some of the bikes tested then don't even exist to the regular public now.

I did a ride in Alaska and kept thinking a bear or a fox or something was going to cross my path at 80mph on a Harley. You survived!
