Some important things to note.

The Hawk airbox mod does not apply to the TBR7, it's a different lid that uses a rubber snorkel.

The TBR7 uses a H6M headlight bulb and all the LEDs I've found for it dont have high and low beam, just bright and brighter.

The TBR7 has a resistor cap so it needs a non-resistor spark plug. Running a resistor plug in it will cause premature coil failure.

The frame is not the same as a Hawk so the standard CRF performance exhaust will need some additional work to install it.

The rear monoshock is very poor quality and will be bouncing like a pogo stick within a couple of months so plan on buying an aftermarket replacement.

Do not over torque the rear axle nut, you'll be buying bearings soon if you do. 35ftlbs and some loctite are sufficient.

And lastly do not follow Motocheez's video on changing fork oil. Take the time to remove the front wheel and each fork from the triple tree and drain them from the top cap by turning them upside down.

i am just installing some LEDs with a relay... myself. stock lights are insufficient for night riding

what is a resistor vs non resistor plug....

how do we find the right plug? preferably an upgrade. is it as simple as the same plug with out the R ?? i did find this cross reference chart/ guide http://www.xenonzcar.com/z31/files/24_SPARK_PLUGS.pdf ?

i happen to be installing one soon.... we will see i guess.... maybe a bracket or two needed....

noted according to taopartsdirect it is 305mm distance from middle-eye to middle-eye but ifmthere ar e any recommendations please list them

Spark plug, yes if it has an "R" on it then it's a resistor plug. The easiest way to know for sure is to put your multimeter on it. 5000 ohms = resistor plug, 0 ohms = non-resistor plug.

This is the shock Dan and I use and really like. His is a 325mm and I'm running the 290mm. The biggest one I could find at the moment is a 295mm, (which would lower your seat 1") but I'm sure if you keep looking you can find a 305mm.

I saw on a YouTube video if you heat the tip of the spark plug you can remove the resistor.... is this a valid option?

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Not sure of how reliable it will be after either. Just buy a non-resister plug.

sure that was my thought to but what would the correct one be? so i did some research.... the iridium plug my bike likes is the often mentioned NGK DPR 8 E IX-9...
that means (according to the ngk chart above) D-12 mm thread/5/8, P-projected insulator, R-resistor type, 8 heat rating, E-19mm reach, IX=hi perf iridium with a 9 mm gap....

from what i saw all the iridiums were resistor types , not sure how much the heat rating matters but you could run DP6EA9 DP7EA9 DP8EA9(closest) DP9EA9....all standard plug types and unfortunately no iridiums in the bunch

to compound matters, Kawasaki lawnmowers typically use a resister plug as well as a 5k ohm plug, and the coils typically last many many years.... i have a 1986 deere 185 running a 17hp kawi, runs the 5k plug cap as well as a BPR5ES... LOL but thats a japanese coil, not a chinese one....

You would need to replace the resister plug wire cap with a non-resister plug cap in order to use a resister plug.

Jetting for TBR7

So i picked up my new TBR 7 months ago and it rides like a slug from mid-range to full throttle. After reading this entire thread on TBR7, i didnt see anything on jetting the carb.
i did read in other section to get a new carb, so i went with an accelerator type and a cone air filter.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i bought these jets...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-Carbu...72.m2749.l2649

i bought this exhaust...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and i live in Ground Zero, NYC... I am at sea level.

Can someone suggest a good combo of main and slow jet replacements?

I hope im not posting in the wrong space and if so, please direct me as im taking a chance with these china bikes that im starting to doubt because of all the reading that im doing...lol..and the loose front disc bolt and the lack of manual that Tao couldn't offer me when i asked.
Their method is, "tighten all the way plus 1/4 turn"...exact words!

Also wanted to add, a replacement CDI since people recommending electronics upgrade or just cap? and plug?

Has anybody got the Kickstart to work?

Help please!

My real bike is a CBR1000rr...and they stole the KLR650...so i went china...if this don't work im going back to Japan! DRZ...Yamaha, KLR again, CR? Im open people as I dont want to fix this bike forever!!!

main jets are typically 110 or 115 ..

also heres a non resistor E3 plug that might do the trick.... e3 110...

I have that same exhaust and a cone filter and at 1100ft. I have the stock carb and have a 38 pilot jet at 1.5 turns out, I run a 115 main and can lift the front wheel in 1st by cracking the throttle

ETA, you might want to get a new CDI unit, I had all manner of issues that felt like fueling, but were caused by the CDI getting hot and failing. these bikes are cheap for a reason
