1 liter of water also weighs 1 kg if so you just added approximately 210grams of oil...

One measurement system put a man on the moon, one didn't. Just saying...

The other is an arbitrary unit of measure that varied by region to region, or even king to king that still managed to build most of the known world and a majority of the ancient world, including many wonders. Being standardized did the most good, but yes, metric is much better for many reasons. One day I think we may even successfully convert here in the US lol

We would have done that if we had measured everything in widths of bananas and based on the average air speed velocity of an unladen swallow (African or European, of course). Which btw, is roughly 24mph or 11 meters per second.

How we measured things did not factor into whether or not our technology and ingenuity would lead to success in those missions.

Pretty sure I had read somewhere that the US decided to stick with Imperial measurements basically as a giant F-U to the rest of the world.

Of course the scientific community largely uses metric almost exclusively; and I'm sure manufacturing uses a blend of the two.

Personally, I'd rather measure small units using metric. A mm is much more precise and easy to use than 64ths of an inch.

Great education! These bikes force you to think in terms of metric! Got some studying to do.
